On June 5, 2009 my blog would complete full three months. I must admit that I started with some very broad concepts but have now decided to narrow on couple of topics. This would help me to connect better with my readers and build a better social group. The disadvantage of writing about too much topics at one place is no real connection with your readers as you might end up with different kind of visitors with different interests from different part of world.

One of the best advice I got from my reader (James) was to connect more with people. He thought my blog is good but it does not bring out the real me. People like to know more about each other and my blog does not have anything that relates to them or connects them either directly or indirectly with me. Feedback well taken and here I am talking about myself. But I hope that you would connect with me too. I definitely would like you intro too but since most of people are busy, all I can request is to drop a comment in any post which you feel need your opinion. I and other readers really value your opinion. It helps everyone know your perspective and see different parts of the same topic.

The Traffic on my blog has increased consistently. I am way above my target but it also spell out that I need to work more on it. Some of my posts are bringing lot of traffic from Google and Yahoo. Traffic is important because it helps me to connect with more people and know their perspective. I have big ambitions for Mystic Madness. I want this to be a place where you can focus on Personal Development especially focused on your Professional Life.  My ambition envisages this place as more of community rather than a one way communication. I am doing this because when I was in Pain in my professional life and needed help, I could not find even a single place on web. I am confident Mystic Madness has the potential to fill that Gap.

One of the readers was very angry with me. He told me that everywhere people talk about doing 10 different things on how to impress your boss or get success in life. This is good but what if you have tried everything and still you see that you are sick of your Boss. People just talk big things but no one has ever talked about how to really treat such people. Feedback was well taken and I came out with the Post called Whack Your Boss. Yes you don’t expect such things from author of Personal Development but my intentions were very clear and I have communicated them at the start of my post.

I love reading and have finished three good books this month. This month was hectic because of 2 business trip and 4 work related deliverables in my company. However my love for my blog hooked me on and made me work on it even late night. Despite of this not much has been written this month as compared to what I could publish last month.

You must be wondering why I am wrapping up May 4 days in advance. Well, I am going on vacation and would not touch my laptop till 1st of June.  I have planned to write on “Emotional Meltdown” before I go but that depends upon how this morning would span out for me.

Next On Mystic Madness- I am looking forward to reward my readers. Last month Steve Williams won my favorite book. This was part of monthly draw for subscribing to my feeds. However I want to take this forward. I won’t disclose my plans now but the format and layout would be visible soon. All I can say is — please do leave your comment and let us know your thoughts as this has power to really drive the topic.

In the End, All I would say is to stay tuned for more. Do let me know if you want me to write on your favorite topic or on problem for which you need a solution. You can submit your article too, if you think that it would help others (and I would make sure to credit you for that).

How Empty Bowl Theory Makes Marketing Effective

We as Human Beings are nothing but Empty Bowls waiting to be filled up with ideas. It is this habit that makes marketing stand where it is today.  Marketing can be easy or difficult depending upon how easily you make use of this theory. Today you are being followed everywhere with sheer intensity by smart and energetic marketers. They have conquered everything in your environment and have fixed their eyes on every move. Their intention is clear, they want to exploit and fill your empty bowl. No matter how hard you try, it is repulsed by equal or more intensity to make their long lasting impact.

Leave aside marketers we use this theory even in our daily lives to profit in our business, personal or professional life. Consciously or unconsciously we use the very concept of Empty Bowls even in our everyday life for short or long term gains. Its intensity can vary but the underlying purpose always remains the same. So what exactly is empty bowl theory and how you can use this concept to your advantage?

So let’s start with what marketing is all about

1)    We have ideas or products that need to be sold

2)    we want to get popular

3)    we want to be get known and famous

And for this we need

1)    People who can believe in our idea

2)    People who can vouch for our idea

3)    People who can make it sell.

empty-bowl

On other side we as Human Beings have

1)    A habit to hunt for information or ideas

2)    When we get an idea, we process it based on our own understanding,

3)    We repackage the idea to make it our own idea

4)    Once it is our own idea, we go out and sell it to others.

It helps them Human Beings because it helps them to

1)    Feel smarter about themselves

2)    Remain updated

3)    Remain a Step Ahead

Marketer use this Tendency to fill their Empty Bowls

1)    They fill the empty bowl of human being with their own idea

2)    Since it is their (Human Being) bowl and it is now filled, it becomes their idea

3)    With their bowls filled, Human beings go and fill bowls of other people around them.

And in this Process it is the marketers that get benefitted.

Take an example of word of mouth marketing

1)    You are sold a product with great savings

2)    You feel smart about the purchase

3)    Since it is you who has taken a perfect decision

4)    You tell it to others about your greatest exploit

5)    Others then try it on their own

6)    They also feel smart about their exploit

7)    And then the chain goes ON and ON and ON

It is this Habit of People that marketers exploit and that too very efficiently.

And Main Point- If your Product Rock than

You will find million of people with empty bowl waiting to be filled up.

1)    This happened with Apple

2)    This happened with Ford

3)    This happened with Amazon

This can happen with you too. Find the Idea that can fill their Empty Bowl and then see the Magic
