5 Relationship Problems And How To Solve Them

Relationships are many a times reflections of our own selves. Dealing with people is an art. Good relationships do not happen by luck or by chance; you need to work a lot to achieve those. You have to sacrifice a lot in terms of ego and need to be able to put yourself in the other person’s shoes many a times. Being generous in sharing happiness and being positive are often the keys that lead to beautiful relationships. Amongst other important things respect, trust and being honest play the biggest roles. A relationship where you can be yourself; as you are; is a dream relationship , but a lot of efforts go in achieving that type of rapport with somebody.

Although relationships often pain us and give us sufferings once they become problematic. Not all the time relationships can face the turbulent sea of life and tend to give away. Let us see 5 major relationship problems, that might cause relationship issues and how can we solve them.

1.      Relationship problems because of undue expectations: Expectation from others, naturally form the base of any relationship. Fulfilling those of course results in making the people involved in the relationship happy. But when the expectations become too much, one goes wary. Expectations which go beyond one’s capacity to fulfil them put a lot of burden on the members involved in the relationship.

The best way to solve it would be to give space to the people you are dealing with.  Take some steps back from the relationship problem and delve into what made things go hay-wire. In order to mend broken relationships, remember the positive things about each other and understand the capacities of your partner. Abstain from pressurising your partner with undue demands. This certainly will bring back the smoothness in your relationship.

2.      Relationship problems because of Non Trust: Good relationships are a result of trust. Trust in a relationship acts as the strongest adhesive to keep the bonding in the relationship. Trust results from honesty and faithfulness. If people take a relationship too lightly and do not care to instil faith and trust in it, it is likely to weaken in due course of time and break apart.

The best way to induce trust would be to respect the other person. To give importance to the person’s existence and feelings and not do anything that might break the trust. A good relationship is the one where small shortcomings of yours are often ignored or go unnoticed, but you should be able to respect that fact and not take it as granted.

3.      Relationship problems because of complaining and backbiting: Lying, backbiting and being defiant will only aggravate the issues in any relationship. Back talking would increase the resentment in the hearts of all the people involved.

The best way to deal with these relationship issues is to confront the person indulging in backbiting. Ignoring this problem would only increase it. Don’t fear the confrontation and it alone would help to address the problem.

4.      Relationship problems because of Ego: The strongest reason which brings in relationship problems and aggravates them is ego. Ego is also the culprit which curbs the relationship problems from getting resolved. Ego results into creating problems in a relationship when one gives oneself undue and unreasonable self importance.

Ego dissuades you from saying sorry or apologising as it gives the feeling that saying sorry would give our partner ammunition to use against us. To handle relationship issues arising out of ego, refrain from being defensive and try to "win" the fight rather let your ego get pumped up by giving yourself a magnanimous personality; by being the first one to forgive in the relationship.

5.      Relationship problems because of jealousy: Jealousy is the subtle and silent killer which sabotages a relationship. If not handled in time it would disturb the equilibrium of the relationship and cause great harm to the psyche of the partner getting jealous.

Jealousy if it comes in very meagre amount can add spice to a relationship, but in order to achieve that spice of relationship both the partners have to be matured enough to know not to give this attribute undue attention. The only way to deal jealousy is donning a matured attitude; looking from the point of the person experiencing it and trust on the partner for whom you are experiencing jealousy.

By solving the problems of relationships we can strengthen the beautiful bonding with people which makes living life worthwhile. No matter what form a relationship comes in we all wish to keep it healthy and bountiful because it gives us many advantages. It gives you reasons to look forward in life. It makes you feel worthy of yourself as good relationships give you an important place in someone’s life. Relationships give you reasons to laugh, to cry, to perform, to share and enjoy life in its full glory.
