Gone are the days of pigeons and letters. Most of the communication which happens between people is either through telephones or emails. No matter how many emails we send every day, we are not experts in sending emails. However, there are many common mistakes we make in email and we still continue to do so. Here is the list of such mistakes.

Forgetting The Attachment

One of the many common mistakes we make in email is to forget attaching the attachment. More often than not, we are in so much hurry that we completely forget to see whether we have attached the file or not. To avoid this mistake, one should attach the file or files and then write the sender’s name, the subject and the body of the message.

Sending Blank Emails

During the above mentioned mistake, we often press the send button in our own hurriedness due to which sometimes we end up sending blank emails to the people. This happens when we write the recipient’s email address but forget to write the matter or the body of the mail. In order to counter this problem, always write the mail first. Your last action should be to fill the recipient’s name, subject etc. This is also one of the most common mistakes we make in email.

Forwarding

Every day we get hundreds of emails in our inbox out of which only a handful may be useful and rest all are forwarded ones. So, what we do with the forwarded emails? Well we too, simply forward them. Most of the times, such emails are either marketing emails or plain jokes. Not everybody likes to read such emails in the office and many consider it spam as well. This is yet another of those common mistakes we make in email.

Reply All Syndrome

Sometimes we receive emails because we are one of the many email addresses on the recipient’s list. In such cases, many of us while replying innocently click on the reply all button. So, though we intend to reach out to the sender of that email, we invariably end up sending our reply to everyone in the mailing list.

Including Signature Multiple Times

Another of those common mistakes we make in email is to include our signature a number of times. If you are sending a mail to someone, say a friend or a colleague who is just a few cabins away from you, you need not include your signature. Signatures are made for official purposes and for people who do not know you. For the people such as parents, spouse, children or friends, one does not need to send signature.

Making Spelling Mistakes

Spelling mistakes is the most annoying and are common mistakes we make in email. When we write an email, we do not take care of the spelling of the words we are writing. This is particularly annoying for the people who love the language and do not want to see someone taking it so lightly. One or two occasional mistakes are okay. But making too many errors while writing an email, gives out a negative impression on your part. It also clearly indicates that the sender of the email is one among those who does not believes in reading the email once and consider spell check a waste of time.

Include Greetings

Failure to include basic greeting while sending emails is also one of the most common mistakes we make in email. Sometimes, we tend to shoot off an email without saying “Hi” or a “Hello”, simply because we know the person. You will also find that sometimes the email does not have proper salutation or even the name of the recipient is missing from the body of the email.

Importance Of Subject Line

The subject line which is provided in the email is not a dummy information box. It is of great importance. Make sure that you always send a proper subject matter which not only corresponds to the matter in the body of the email but is also catchy. This is for the recipient. A catchy subject line will be an instant attention grabber for the recipient of the email.

Here are some of the most common mistakes we make in email and in spite of knowing them; we still do it till date. Some of the mistakes seem to be minor ones but can have grave repercussions if left unchecked.

The Best Blogging Advice Ever

When I started blogging 2.5 years back in a blogger/blogspot account it was more of for fun. Few posts and I had a medium where I could express myself clearly. I hooked some adsense here and there without any knowledge of what placement could actually mean. My posts frequency depended on my mood and my blog was not going anywhere. Most of stuff was something I felt strong about and there was no niche for my blog. Then I got attracted to the money part of blogging. My main source of revenue was paid posting and I was penalized by google for it too. It made me few bucks but the income was not automated. I had to write to earn and adsense was making me pennies. It was during this timeframe the revelation of best blogging advice came in front of me.

Slowly and steadily I was realizing the true potential of blogging both from content and revenue standpoint. Couple of good posts connected me to some real people and some changes in ad placement started to make me money. It was in this time I started to think seriously about blogging and Mystic Madness came into being in March 2009. During first few months I studied a lot about everything from html codes to SEO. My posting frequency was down mainly because I wanted to be sure before making any move. Also I was looking for niche that had the potential to bring the best of me. It was tough time but I never gave up.

Blogging can have two broad purposes-

1) It provides you a platform and gives you a face in this big world

2) It has potential to make you money

For bloggers both the parts are very important mainly because each part has the potential to boost other part

1) Good work brings you traffic

2) Traffic has the potential to make money

3) Money made can then be re-invested to increase more traffic.

People who are serious about blogging know these parts very clearly. I am sure every blogger understand how important traffic is and how difficult it is to make it happen for you.

The lure of traffic created another rat race

1) People started to write indiscriminately about any topic

2) More pages meant more traffic

3) Quality in effect went for spin

And this resulted in

1) More effort on daily basis

2) Slow or no increase in traffic

3) less income

People knew that they had to write but they never knew what to write that could bring them more traffic.

It happened with me and I am sure it is happening with most of other bloggers even now. It is in this scenario the best blogging advice came into picture.

The best blogging advice I would ever like to give to bloggers says

1) Write content that is timeless

2) Write content that people lookout for in search engines

3) Write regularly without fail in your niche

When you write content that is timeless it becomes eternal. Blog post like “How to impress your boss” never gets stale like daily sports or political news. It becomes an asset of your blog.

What people lookout for is the traffic search engine brings to your blog. So instead of writing “different examples of recreation for professionals” one should write “Types of Recreation for Professionals” because this is something that people look out for and it brings traffic.

Writing regularly makes you look good in eyes of content hungry search engines. Sooner or later you would find yourself at top of search results.

I tried this towards the end of last year and

1) My traffic got more than doubled

2) The Bounce rate is less that 1%

3) My revenue increased too.

SEO, cpm, cpr, blog look and feel, pictures etc. are many other areas one can surely work on. But good content is the soul that makes you sell. And you should know what people buy.

Sell what people buy or lookout for. Write what people would like to give a look. And success would slowly start to come.

Being serious about blogging and not getting eager for success has somehow kept me sane in this journey. Writing each day has slowly made me write more and with less difficulty. I have started to enjoy this journey and more than that my monthly targets. This is something I can do after my job and gives me a nice feeling that I am building something of my own. Something that I love to write about and has the potential to automate my income in years to come. My personal Best Blogging Advice.
