This leads to a life full of grandparents, nannies, caretakers, ragged dolls and computer games to give them company during times when they feel lonely. Parents are hardly around when the child needs them during moments of elation, sorrow, hurt, disappointment, celebrations etc. This makes them a loner; a person who is alone even in a crowd. Let us learn the importance of parent’s involvement in a child life.

Parents Are The Major Support System For The Child

No matter what ever happens in the life of a child, his major support system will always consist of his parents. Children who are alone, devoid of their parent association during the most important times of their lives turn into recluses. They stay away from the people especially during occasion when they see others with their parents. This is to avoid further scrutiny or pity from the people nearby. Parent’s involvement in a child life makes him feel as if the entire world is with him to share his views and feelings. A child always yearns for the love and security which only a parent can provide.

Sharing Is The Key To A Stable Relationship

Let your child share his life and activities with you rather than you coercing him to tell you everything. A child will let you into his world only if you lovingly make him understand what he should do and what he shouldn’t. Do not scold him or beat him. This will only make his rebellious and then he will refuse to share any thing with you. Gently coax him by providing positive reinforcement. A parent’s involvement in a child’s life should not be so much that it looks as if you do not have faith in what your child tell you and want to investigate further.

Do not Provide A Substitute For Your Love

Working parents often feel guilty for not being able to spend as much time as they would prefer to spend with their children. This leads to parents giving expensive gifts to their child in order to satisfy themselves. What they do not realize is that an X-box or the latest mobile phone or the costliest car in town is not the solution to the problem. Kids will use these only as a temporary means to satisfy their longing for their parent’s love and attention. A parent’s involvement in a child’s life should not be measured in terms of quantity but by quality.

Formation Of Healthy Relationships

A parent’s involvement in a child’s life makes him bond with his parent as well as other in a healthy manner. It has often been noticed that children who do not have a free and transparent relationship with their parents tend to avoid intimacy with others, even when they grow up. Formation of healthy relations within the family and outside in a social circle is very important as man is considered to be a social being.

Make Him Independent

A parent’s involvement in a child’s life can dramatically change a child’s life in many ways. This involvement should not become meddling in any manner. Let the child grow up to be an individual in his own way and take decisions independently. Give your child all the necessary foundation to become a good human being. If he gets confused then guide him; provide him with all the reasons for your decision and your thoughts. Explain him that he will be solely responsible for the outcome. And then finally let your child use the teachings to judiciously pick what is right and what is wrong. You will notice that with each example of such a kind, your child becomes more confident to face the world and take wise decisions.

A bond of love and affection between the parent and the child will help him to grow and develop properly. A parent’s involvement in a child’s life can be in many ways. The idea is to create a healthy bond between the parent and the child. Proper involvement could result in bringing up a happy and confident child. Such a child has great self confidence and a sense of peace and security which are the essential ingredients of a healthy childhood.

Most couples end up having children very early in their married life to avoid embarrassing questions from the community elders and relatives.

People live for themselves. They tend to focus on building their abodes, vacationing to exotic places and enjoy other fruits of life. They continue to do till they have a child. Many couples are apprehensive about the kind of lifestyle changes occurring around when they decide to have a child. The importance of a child in the family stems from the fact that a child makes both a man and a woman realize that instead of meeting with expenditures and spending all their hard earned money on themselves, they should invest to make the future of their child safe and secure.

There are many couples who do not have their own children. Such couples have realized the importance of a child in the family and are now coming forward to adopt orphans. Contrary to the retrograde thinking of many orthodox people, adoption is indeed a very noble deed. It works both the ways as the desperate parents get to call someone as their own and an orphan get a second chance to have a slice of life.
