Corporate Ladder- How to Move Fast

29 April 2009 One Comment

Corporate Ladder in short is your path to success. Each step denotes a stage which you need to achieve and then quickly aim for the next step. It is a clear, measurable and distinct goal which you can have in your career. You target it, you work hard, you stay competitive and you go up the ladder on your job. Corporate recognize your contribution to the company by rewarding not only through monetary benefits but also through fancy and respectable titles.  With time you gain experience, name, fame and respect which helps you push further in your career.

But there is a catch. Not everyone progress at same rate and not everyone is a CEO of the company. There are selected few who get everything and rest progress at rate which is much below the high success rate. Keeping education, qualification as constant there is a certain set of abilities which separate the winners from others. However human beings always blame their environment rather than developing the soft skills to help them get in the same league.

Let us do some little introspection. So if you look back and see the reason for slow growth, you might find

1)    You have never been treated fairly

2)    Your company has always been biased

3)    The other people played tricks on you

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong

The reason is You.

Have you ever tried?

1)    To help others learn what you know

2)    To believe in what others do

3)    Not to feel insecure when other progressed.

The fear deep inside you always tell you to

1)    Not to share knowledge lest others get past you

2)    Never feel happy when others get the taste of success

3)    Never shared responsibility with a fear of losing your hold.

This is definitely one of the specific aspects apart from numerous other traits. But if you are currently struggling with what have been outlined above than read on.

To Progress in Your Career You Need to

1)    Learn new things

2)    Get more experience

3)    Practice them hard

When you have done that and have mastered in stage one, It is time to move on. But you can move on only when

1)    In your absence your job gets done

2)    In your absence your job gets done more efficiently

3)    In your absence your job gets done with more speed.

How you can achieve this? By Delegating. Yes you read it right By Delegating

1)    You teach others what you have learnt

2)    You spread out the task to others

3)    You make others efficient and get the maximum out of them

This will help you to concentrate on important tasks. Afterall, you need to move on and focus on next important task.

Hence, The secret is to “Delegate what you know and Focus on your Next Target

People who are self centered and fear from success of others

1)    Never prefer transferring what they know to others

2)    Always stick to their job in hand and never try to graduate to next level

3)    Always fear that they would lose their position.

So they remain there only. Yes they are happy with their Job and live Paycheck to Paycheck

Continued Below.........

However, Story does not end with Delegating. You Need to Move a Step Ahead

1)    Help your team with tasks

2)    Invest your time in team

3)    Make them successful

Why? Because –> You would Grow only when your Team Grows.

Yes this is a Pull and Push Approach. You Pull Them Up and You Get Pushed Much Higher.

Grow you Team and You would Grow Yourself.

Try It
