Different Types Of Harassment

Harassment is a negative thing which can even destroy the mankind. It can leave a very bad impression on someone who has undergone through it. It is always assumed that the main victims are the females but if you look at the records of last few decades then you will find that it is not gender specific anymore. Though there are different types of harassment but the effect is almost same in every case. We will discuss these different types of harassment in details.

Racial harassment- This is one kind of harassment. In this, people get tortured on the basis of their race, color and creed. If we talk about different types of harassment then this is the one kind which is most prevalent in many countries. We get to know such racial incidents every now and then. There was a very popular show in international television in which celebrities were living together in one single house. In that even, one lady had to face racial harassment from other people of the house. Even at the work place, people of international or multinational countries have to face such kind of harassment from other staff members.

Psychological harassment- Psychological harassment is a very general term and it is active in all the societies of the world. Sometimes people don’t even know that they are being harassed by other psychologically. They believe that this is the way one boss has to behave if the subordinated did any misconduct. This is one of the widely used harassment amongst different types of harassment. Threats, over pressure, threat of losing job, or any other pressure by the senior staff comes under this kind of harassment.

Sexual harassment-Sexual harassment has been much common amongst different types of harassment. In early times, we found only females get sexually harassed by their seniors or other staff members. But nowadays, even male staff is getting harassed by other male and female staff. Sexuality is one of the most sensitive issues and it should get handle with extra care and diligence. Seniors or managers only to fulfill their sexual desires harass the female staff and give them a threat of losing job or by locating them with attractive offers such as money or promotional activities.

Violence-It is tough to believe that even violence is one type of harassment. In this type, whenever violence gets active, people get scared and get mentally weak. They always remain in ambiguity and under pressure and people who hate such violence get severely affected at mental levels.

Work harassment- In different types of harassment, one kind is work harassment. Sometimes only to take revenge, seniors delegate extra responsibilities and over pressure on the candidate which they are not been able to complete. The result may be losing the job because of low performance. This is a trick of management when they want to expel any employee and they don’t have appropriate reason for that. In such situations, when management becomes the enemy then it is very difficult to avoid such situations. And work harassment is very common in today’s era.

Internet harassment- In internet harassment, the subordinates and other staff members get harassed through internet via emails, messages and adult messages. Internet is a thing which everyone is using nowadays and harassment through internet is also spreading like anything. In this, the accounts get hacked and people start getting adult or abusive messages through their mail account or any other social websites.

These different types of harassment may look different conceptually but if you understand them carefully then you will find that all those harassment are same in one or the other kind and all have almost the same consequences with different level of intensity. No harassment is tolerable but one has to deal with them every now and then. All these different types of harassment are definitely tough to deal but one has to make efforts in order to get rid of them permanently by complaining it to the police department. There are adequate laws and other measures to prevent such harassment. But because of disrespect in the society, many people avoid to complaint and even because their superiors have much power to ruin their life. Such avoidance can result in sever harassment also.
