Most seriously affected member is the child. He is the only person who has to face every situation and will be in loss from both the sides. Many people ask how divorce affects children. Feeling of stress and anxiety- Children of all age feel stress and anxiety when their parents are getting apart. They always feel bad and full of stress during this period. Even after the divorce, when any child remembers the parent who is not living with him anymore, he starts feeling depressed and lonely. When there is a matter of custody of a child then both parents try to have the custody of that child and the child gets so lonely and stressed. He has to make a choice between his parents. The thought of leaving one parent makes him feel like crying and lonely.

Depression- Many children go in depression after the divorce of their parents. They don’t know what to do next. The constant fear of loosing one parent becomes the cause of depression. Child feels alone and depressed.

Anger- When we discuss about how does divorce affect children, then anger is one affect we normally see in children. Many children get angry on seeing such immature behavior from their parents side. The parents are meant to be the idols but when they fight like cats and dogs then children feel anger and at that moment, they just want to stop everything.

Guilt- Sometimes parents fight on the matter of their children and when children get to know this then they often feel guilty and stressful. They start feeling like everything is happening because of them and he is responsible for the separation. That guilt leads to depression and other major diseases that can be harmful for the child.

Drug addict-Only to escape from all these traumas and regular fights of parents on small issues, children become drug addict or alcoholic. Many a times when they see no solution of this and they keep missing their parents then in order to avoid this situation, they take help from those drugs and alcohol.

Bad behavior- How does divorce affect children? The best answer is bad behavior. After the separation, it has been noticed that the children gets irritated soon and behave badly with their parents or other family members. They take out all the frustrations on them and keep on using abusive and unlikely language.

Isolation- Often children of small age between 3 to 6 years feel lonely and isolated without one parent. After the divorce of their parents, it is very difficult for a single parent to cater all the needs of a child. A child needs full attention and response and if there is only one parent then it is not possible for him / her to take care of every single and small need. And this is the situation where children start feeling like they are alone and they miss their parents.

Negative thoughts- Sometimes children also feel depressed about their parent’s separation and they think they are responsible for this. In this stress, they often think to suicide or get violent at times. They don’t understand that whatever bad is happening is only because of the situation but they blame themselves for it and plan suicide attempts and many more.

Indulge in early sexual activities- If children are mature enough or lie between the age group of 16 to 29 then they get attracted to sexual activities at a very early age and this may damage their body as well as mind.

Thus, there are many answers of the question how does divorce affect children? But everyone needs to understand that the mind of a child is very sensitive and can react very violently at such issues. So, we should always take care that matters should get resolved in lighter environment so that they don’t become negative for this.
