Most people seem to be very afraid of asking certain questions. So I will try to shed light in the following paragraphs on the questions you always wanted answers to but you never had the guts to ask. So, don’t hesitate to ask any question that pops in your head and is of course appropriate for the particular context. Many awkward situations could be avoided if people would just speak their mind instead of assuming certain things. It’s much easier to be very certain about everything by asking questions, than assuming things, because you are afraid of people’s reactions. So my advice is to always ask if you are unsure about something rather than assume the wrong thing. In the paragraphs below I have made a list of things that people generally hesitate to ask.

1.      Don’t hesitate to ask your teacher for help with a problem even if you feel that the problem should be very easy. If you don’t understand something about a certain subject you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help. Most people are afraid because of others reactions. Even if your question refers to something basic that you should presumably know, never hesitate to ask. It’s much easier to withstand maybe a bit of humiliation than to continue in your mistake.

2.      Don’t hesitate to ask your boss for a promotion if you feel you have earned it. Most people don’t get what they want simply because they don’t ask for it. It is very important not to be shy and to try to take what belongs to you. Nobody will find you and offer you the thing you deserve on a silver platter. Being good at your job is not enough. You should be conscious of your value and never be afraid to ask for a raise or for better working conditions. If you have self confidence and the correct notion of yourself worth, than you will find that people will respect you more and take everything you say seriously. If you feel that you are not appreciated at your full value don’t be afraid to play a little hard ball. Threaten to quit if your boss doesn’t agree to the demands you consider reasonable. And while you are at it, don’t be afraid to quit either if you know your current job is not offering as much as you deserve. If you know your true value you will have no problem finding a better job at a different company.

3.      Don’t hesitate to ask your family for help if you are in a tight situation. If you have money problems or any other kind of problems for that matter, you should never hesitate to call your family for help. Your family, more than your friends will stay by you no matter what, and you should swallow your pride and just ask them for help rather than getting loans from banks or strangers. That’s what your family is there for, to help you. They should be the first people you call when you are in a tough situation.

4.      Don’t hesitate to ask a girl out. This has been very surprising for me, realizing that most girls go out with losers or bad boys just because the good guys never build up the nerve to ask them out. Nothing bad can really happen, at most a rejection, but it is better to know her true feelings towards you rather than obsessing over her for a long period of time. And most of the times you will be surprised by the result. And it doesn’t matter how pretty the girl is. Most of the times the prettiest girls are so intimidating that no guy thinks he has a shoot with her, so nobody asks her out. So build up your nerves and never be afraid to ask any girl out if you like her, no matter what everybody else says.

These have been just a few examples of questions that people are afraid to ask. My advice is: Don’t hesitate to ask anything. If you feel you need a clarification of a situation just ask and get your answer. Nobody will read your mind so the only way to get what you want and need is to ask for it. And never worry about what people might think. You are asking the question for your own benefit and people who might make fun shouldn’t interest you, because they are beneath you. Always be sure of yourself, and clear about what you know and don’t know, and about what you want. You are the only one who dictates your life so take hold of it and never look back. If you apply yourself you can be capable of anything.
