There is no doubt in saying that a person can become successful in any field if he/she can learn to remove the negative thoughts from his/her mind. The importance of developing positive self esteem in oneself is very high due to which many self esteem activities are being arranged every year. People spend lot of their time as well as money in various personal development programs and even on various types of motivational books, magazines, tapes, seminars and lot more. To spend money for self help and personal development is a remarkable thing, but, you can also find some alternative ways by which you can improve self esteem with either very less cost or no cost. Many free self esteem activities have been found which can help in boosting your self confidence.

The self esteem activities are very simple and you can do them at home during your spare time. If you are engaged in free self esteem building activities, then there is no requirement to hire a personal adviser or attend seminars for your personal development. Someone has said that “if you want to become happy in your life, then start from your own house”. To develop self esteem, the main thing required is positive thinking. You can start to find different ways in your home in different situations where you can practice self esteem activities. Infact this can be practiced as a part of group exercises, by children, people in young, old or middle years aged people.

Start off with the narration of positive affirmations. These affirmations are preferred to be in first person like “This day will become the best day of my entire life” or “I have courage to face the challenges” and so on. This is one of the simplest but very useful self esteem activities done totally free. Words are considered to be the powerful tools to change your thoughts. Try to recite various positive thoughts in your spare time and recall them in your tough situations. These thoughts are the words of hope, courage, confidence, motivation and inspiration. When this self esteem activity is practiced on daily basis, you can definitely transform your negative thoughts into positive ones. If you are reading or reciting these positive thoughts loudly, then you will gradually see your mindset changed to positive thinking.

Another important self esteem activity is to engage oneself with positive people. The people with positive thinking will always radiate positive energy and enthusiasm which will develop courage and confidence in you. When you come in contact with such positive people, you will be surrounded by the aura of positivity. Thus, it becomes very important while choosing your friends, life partner and your surrounding. While spending greater part of your time with the people speaking positive words, thinking positive and living a happy life, you will also gradually find yourself becoming a person like these positive people.

Journaling is also considered to be one of the best self esteem building activities. You can keep a track on your progress by noting it in your journal and make changes accordingly. In the initial stage, note down the things that you do throughout the day. But, along with it, also remember to make a special note on at least one positive activity that you have performed each day. At the end of the day, thoroughly read all the points and correct the points to improve self esteem in you. After a passage of time, you will find that your mind is getting rid of the negative thoughts.

When you take a new challenge, note it in your journal and when you overcome it, note it with a special remark. This will help you the next time when you face such type of problems. Spend some time in your writing and praise yourself for the good work done. Take a look at your previous writing after every small interval of time. Remember that you should find gradual changes in your thoughts and development of self esteem.

Self esteem building activity also includes trying new things in your life. Just like a road without bumps and crossings is considered to be risky at times, in the same way, a life without troubles will become risky for a developing mind. Practice new things and learn to grow high with courage and positive thoughts. The challenges will make you do the things that you might have never done before and once you succeed in that, see how you feel. Just remove the feeling of “I cannot do this” from your mind and start to develop a thought of “I will and I can”.

Once you feel that you are going well in the self esteem activities, try to search for the support system which can encourage you to continue and grow high in this way. To continue with the self-esteem building is very important. Thus, look for the people surrounding you who can boost you with the positive influence. As time passes, you will feel a happy environment around you and a tendency to face any situation.

There are some other self esteem building activities such as engaging in sports, working in a group, attending seminars of self esteem development, planning for the realistic goals of your life and many more. But, for all these, you need to first develop to change yourself to live a better life.
