Gender discrimination is a wrong habit consisting of intolerance, hatred, bossiness, manipulation, wickedness, oppression, cruelty, inconsideration, bias and a host of other negative attitudes. Gender discrimination in a workplace is unsurprisingly common because where you have different people working together under the same roof from different race, religion, cultural and traditional believes, ethnicity, and country, there is bound to be disparity, frictions and tendency to bully the other person; employers against workers, workers against workers, especially the new admitted ones. This condition is so rampant in organization all for no reason except human factor. Humans are social being and are imbedded with so much faulty conception about life. The human heart is evil, sorry to say this, but unfortunately it is a fact if not can you explain why anyone will choose to enslave another just because of erroneous perception about the person’s background? Survival of the fittest, social intolerance, “we are better than you syndrome” leading to oppression are some of the bad ethics that produced hates crimes like: slavery, racism etc. Thankfully, these evil has been controlled to a reasonable extend though it still surfaces here and there in the society and more distinctive in the workplace.  The evil effects of gender discrimination are: unfavorable work conditions, goal delay and sometimes total stoppage. Discussing these consequences will be tantamount to describing the disadvantages of ethics in the workplace, but since the topic under discussion is about importance of ethics in the workplace, below are some of the relevancies of ethics in a workplace.

1.         Faster growth: If the right mechanism like: good salary, gender discrimination free environment, proper incentives etc are put in-place, workers will be encouraged to work better, with more focus, and dedication.

2.         Healthy competition. An organization that knows her onions encourages healthy competitions within her work forces; the essence is to reduce stress, encourage friendly interactions between the workers, break down barriers and frees the head and mind from tensions. This can be done by organizing quiz or ay competitive exercises that may include offering little prices to the winner to further create competitive air and seriousness. You can distribute the workers in groups for the purpose of this competition.

3.         Equity: Corporate management that operates in equity exhibits or possesses the equity trait. This is a condition where an employer or management treats all workers equally; giving realistic and right judgments that is devoid of prejudice when the occasions call for it. The importance of ethics in the workplace as far as equity is concerned is many and they include: the worker feeling accepted, appreciated, and comfortably and at-ease with everyone, organizational policies, and rules.

The importance of ethics in the workplace has one basic goal and it is to achieve an organizational goal, all other things are just additional ones. Salary, wages etc are not the only incentives a staff needs to work better, other things like displaying the right ethics matters a lot too.
