Finding Happiness In Life: Practical And Possible Ways
Happiness! This is all what we aim and search for in life, right? All our attempts, efforts and trouble are supposed to add happiness to our life or take us closer to it. Come what may, we always strive to find more happiness. All paths that we tread on are supposed to lead us ultimately to the pinnacle, called happiness.
However, finding happiness is not as easy as it ought to be. Rather, the more you pursue it, more it evades you. The more earnestly we seek happiness, the more elusive it becomes. This is because we do not understand that happiness cannot be caught by chasing it. Rather, we are surrounded by it.
Many seekers of happiness have shared various ways and methods of finding happiness in life. However, we try to look at certain practical and possible ways to find happiness in life.
1. Simplify: Our modern day life only has added more complication to our daily routine. Our day’s itinerary is always packed with numerous tasks. To add to this are a jamboree of gadgets that are interfering our flow. We watch television while eating and attend a call at the same time. Aren’t we trying to do more than we can accomplish comfortably? Certainly, we need to simplify the leaving. Have a patient look at the paraphernalia in our life. Think about the role each gear play. Whether it eases and assists your schedule? If not, it can be done away with.
2. Look at larger picture: Often, many small incidents pain us and take away our happiness. This happens because we allow it to. We get entangled in petty things and give them undue importance, thereby empowering them to affect our lives. Know what you want in life and always keep your sight on your goal. Have larger picture in mind. This will reduce or remove irritations from smaller failures or obstacles. Understand that these trivial failures and faults are, actually, lessons to be learnt and they take us a step closer to realising our dreams.
3. Don’t neglect small pleasures: While looking at larger picture, you should not forget to enjoy smaller things that come your way. All seemingly small things and incidents happening around us have an immense potential to spread happiness. Take a fresh look at them. Immerse in and enjoy every bit of these. These smaller pleasures not only make you happy but also impel you to seek bigger goals. Accomplishing a task properly, passing a test, helping someone, attending a concert, et al may consume your couple of hours but can generate a bundle of happiness and contribute a lot to the feel good factor.
4. Recognize happiness trigger: Find out an activity that triggers a lot of happiness and bonhomie in you. Make this trigger a regular feature of your living. Whenever you feel low or are disappointed, use the trigger to bring you back on the track. It could be music, books, sports, hobby, driving or meeting people. Do what you love doing and happiness will come seeking you.
5. Plant happiness: This does not mean that you try to feel or look happy even if you are not. But it means, surround yourself with images, mementoes, gifts, etc that constantly remind you about the good times you had and are having. Also, use images that remind you about the larger picture of your life, and make you think and feel positive about your future. Importantly, do not forget to plant happiness among the people around you lest they hold you down.
6. Accept problems: No human can be found without any problem. Problems are the part and parcel of our life. So, accept them. Solution does not lie in neglecting or running away from problems. Rather, it is reached through them. Accepting your problems takes the seriousness out of them and opens you to the opportunity that may come in disguise. Going through the problems and reaching the solutions will manifold your happiness.
7. Look after yourself: Amidst the hustle-bustle that comes with the living, do spare some time every often for yourself. Take care of your health, relax if you need to, and appreciate whatever you do, feel good about the positive aspects of your personality, express gratitude for whatever you have. Do pat on your own back for whatever you are. Do not search for the reasons, just do it. We indeed deserve it for being alive in this wonderful world.
8. The world is exactly the way it should be: Amen! So, why worry? Everybody is doing just what s/he is supposed to do. Probably, you would have done the same, had you been in her/his shoes. You are here for some distinct purpose. Do not compare, do not compete and do not judge. Just be what you are and enjoy the journey.
The happiness has always resided within you. It needs a little effort from personal end to make it happen. There is inherent need to realize that we need to better our lives and take the path of happiness. Finding happiness in life is just a step away. All you need to do it is to consciously desire it and make happen for real in your life. Seek happiness and it will come running to you.
