How Not to Think Too Much
Do you think too much? If Yes then read on. How not to think Too Much is about you. It is about the habit which you have developed consciously or un-consciously in all these years. You know you are feel sick about it and want to run away from it. But you fail every time. You might have tried to get rid of it many times but this habit haunts you like hell. Well you are not alone but among scores of people, who have not yet developed the habit of spotless, thought free, clear and happy mind. The mind that does not thinks too much but remains productive at all the time.
There is one very good story that is doing the rounds in Internet. Let’s imagine you to be the part of that story. You are given a glass of water half full and been asked to hold it for
1) 1 minute
2) 1 hour
3) 1 day
What would be your reaction?
1) 1 minute- Pretty cool and very much manageable
2) 1 hour- You can manage it but it might strain your hand
3) 1 day- Very difficult. Won’t be doable till you hurt yourself badly.
Now replace the glass of water with a Thought
1) 1 minute you keep a thought. It might work. Maybe it deserve that
2) 1 hours- Its it getting too much
3) 1 day- If you doing it, you know how badly it hurts.
Situation gets worse if you keep it for more than one day. Infact this is the habit of which I talked about
1) You think think, think, think…………
2) You develop a habit of it
3) No matter how much you try, you cannot help yourself because you are addicted to it.
Is there a way out? Definitely but it is you who has to work on it. So lets talk about it and I hope you would definitely give it a try

Whenever any thought stays you mind for more than 10 minutes
1) You need to get alert about it
2) Think thoroughly about what you are thinking
3) Write it down in a paper
Now this thought is in your To-Do or To-be-thought-into list. Immediately ask yourself to think about
1) Something you really like.
2) Something that motivates you
3) Something you are passionate about.
Example- If some thought comes to my mind I would write it down clearly and nicely. I have a satisfaction of preserving it somewhere so that my mind does not bother me later. Next I think about my blog- something I love and passionate about. I think of strategies to make more friends, showcase my content, and how it can help someone in his life. I say to myself, let’s think about the blog because it needs me.
So, the immediate attention gets diverted. Now, schedule time for what you have written. Give it time when you are most busy. Finally
1) When its time to ponder on your written list– you would be very busy
2) You would end up– scheduling it for later time
3) You might end up rescheduling it again and again.
So what ultimately happens
1) After few re-schedules the thought becomes un-important
2) You will find that the thought really does not at all make the sense.
3) You would ultimately reject it with some small reasoning.
Yes this happens. Procrastination is the best solution here. It has the ability to do wonders for you.
The best way is to keep adding new bad thoughts to this list and work on rescheduling it.
On contrary if later you feel you have to work on it than you have two options
1) Drink the water and eat glass to prevent yourself from being hurt
2) Have the courage to drop the glass.
Example- Imagine you have been betrayed in love and you cannot help to think more about it. Delay the thought and the decision by few days. Write it down and say I will think tomorrow. Do this till the time you have to sit down and decide it. On that very day you would be very confident
Continued Below.........
Yes, If you come to this step after lot of re-scheduling than you would be very confident about making the decision. More than confident you would be very smart about it. So you would (in example above)
1) Either forgive your loved one and stay with him/her by forgetting everything that has happened. You would carve out a plan on how you would go about in future
2) Or you would end the relationship that very day.
This tricks works because
1) Initial days of thought are very traumatic
2) The delay takes the pain out of it.
3) With each day you gather the courage to fight it unconsciously in the intervening time
4) The courage helps you to fight the battle at later stage
5) You Win
