How To Have A Calm And Peaceful Mind
Modern lifestyle has bestowed everything upon us. Bigger dwellings, material comforts, lavish lifestyle, and technology that puts everything at our beck and call. Humans are able to grasp everything they ever dreamt of. It no more takes a lifetime to attain our material milestones. Affluence and achievements are gifted on everyone.
However, this lifestyle also has gifted restlessness and impatience to our lives. We have certainly lost the peace of mind. Calmness, which was once the symptom of contended life, is nowhere to be found. Amidst the race for possession of more, bigger and better, we have lost possession of the calm and peaceful mind. We get irritated at the smallest altercation. We view everyone sceptically and are up in arms against anyone around us.
The root cause of this is the restless, insecure and un-contended modern mind. Those who realise this, try various impractical methods to have a calm and peaceful mind. Some methods like japa, meditation and yoga do help to a great extent; but we often overlook some very fundamental keys that can help us have a calm and peaceful mind. Here we take a look at these simple but significant solutions.
Keep it simple
The main reason behind missing the peace of mind is our complex lifestyle. We often complicate our own lives. We surround ourselves with many unnecessary things and fill our days with unimportant activities.
In order to have a calm and peaceful mind, the first thing we need to do is simplify. For that, analyse everything around you and segregate them in two categories depending upon what is helping you and what is troubling you. Evaluate all the complex paraphernalia, reduce it and live simple.
Mind your own business
Modern day mind is needlessly curious about his surroundings, especially people. It is always more interested in others’ lives than its own. We must reduce this habit in order to simplify our lives and attain calmness of mind. Stop poking nose into others’ matters. Mind your own business.
In other words, do not bother about the things you should not bother about. You must help people and interact with them, but don’t be needlessly curious about their personal matters. Save that energy and curiosity to better your own lives instead.
Remove any small botheration
If you know what bothers your life, remove it before you proceed further. Otherwise it keeps nagging at the back of your mind and is enough to spoil your peace. Before you move ahead, sort out the problems. Do not avoid, but get into the problems, recognise their cause and resolve the matter. If unresolved, smallest of the matter can snowball into an avalanche that may hit you at the most inopportune moment.
By getting rid of small pebbles, you can smoothen out the road. By doing so, you will feel a lot relieved, and as though a burden is taken off your mind. Your mind will be a lot calmer and peaceful for that.
Take a break
If at times, you find that life is filled with too much to bear with and mind is going to bear the brunt; take a break. Get off the routine. Break the monotony. Understand your break point and always try to stay under this limit. Do not try to bite more than what you can chew.
Take a break more frequently, if required. Whenever you find yourself getting puzzled and baffled; take a short break, reorganize yourself and start a fresh. This is helpful in avoiding your mind from going bust or losing its peace.
Spare time for yourself
Certainly, your mind need some time and space all for itself. Define some time of the day that you shall spare for letting your mind go its way. During this hiatus, do not try to control it. Let it take its flight of fancy.
Whenever mind is left loose and on its own, it often recharges and refreshes itself. This is a better way to calm down the mind and reduce the clamour in it.
Be adaptive
If you are quick in adapting to your environments, your mind does not have to struggle to resist the change. It will need to work less to adjust to the surroundings. By having an adaptive approach, you will more quickly fall at peace with yourself and your surroundings.
Our mind becomes restless in resisting the change and going out of its comfort zone. Positively accept the change as an opportunity to give a renewed look at life. This approach will comfort your mind and put it at ease quickly.
These suggestions will be very effective in our day to day life and certainly help you in having calm and peaceful mind. After all, calm and peaceful mind is the key to success and serenity.
