How to Sell Yourself as an Expert
If you got it, flaunt it. I am sure most us has heard about it but I am not sure how many people actually practice this in their daily life. A step ahead to it goes in acquiring an art where even if you have not got it still you flaunt it naturally. Expertise in a particular field is a much desired trait. It is something you acquire by experience and over a long period of time. These form basis of our career and our growth. Every skill acquired each year adds up in our armor which makes us more powerful in our professional and personal life. Experience has its own advantages but an effort put in a particular direction definitely gives us a much needed boost to shape up our personality.
Whenever we talk about an expertise there are two things that can happen
1) Either you have it
2) You don’t have it
Well, Even if you have it, it doesn’t matter if
1) You are not good enough to show it
2) You are not good enough to take advantage of it
3) You are not Good enough to Sell it
The challenge is not en expertise after a certain point. The challenge is
1) Can you sell it
2) Can you sell it effectively
3) Can you fake it even if you don’t have the expertise?

While faking without actual expertise may not be effective but we do confront situations where we need to sell something even with zero knowledge. Yes this happens in our daily life when we sell something to our friends, family, children etc. How effectively you can sell depends upon how much they perceive you as an expert and believe in your argument.
So Again, the challenge is to sell yourself as an Expert
Who do we consider as Experts?
1) People in a Particular Positions
2) People from whom we learn like Parents and Teachers
3) People in Particular Job like Doctors, Mechanics etc.
Even if you are in above position the skill is to be as effective and natural that can make the complete difference.
That can happen only when You Emanate Confidence and make a Proper Eye Contact. This essentially means you have to
1) Be clear and confident about what you speak
2) Avoid dabbling in your voice and thoughts
3) Looking straight down the yes forcibly and with precision.
The story does not end here. There is a magic which you can do with what you speak too. The Magic is to include facts, figures and data in your conversation
1) Make your argument convincing with data
2) Make that data speak for you
3) Make sure that data strikes straight down in the conversation.
You an also Add an Icing to it by making sure to include
1) Technical Jargon related to your field
2) Stuff which the other person cannot interpret or is difficult to understand
3) Stuff that needs a lot of Hard work to decode
Continued Below.........
Essentially to be an Expert you need to
1) Be confident and make an eye contact
2) Support your point with relevant data
3) Fill you argument with jargon and stuff which no one can understand or is difficult to understand.
Think for yourself. Who looks more expert to you in a particular position?
1) A salesman who tells you about price of car than the one who talks about all the features including the bhp, torque, valves etc.
2) A doctor who tells you about disease without diagnosing than the one who takes time to look at you and then tell you about 10 different types of bacteria and diseases.
Reputation has its own advantages, But if you are not in that position than you better be in a position that makes you effective.
And to be effective you need to sell yourself as an Expert
Try It. You would soon see the difference.
