Adolescence is a very vulnerable stage of everyone’s life. The physical and mental changes that occur in this stage are entirely new experiences for the teenagers. At this stage of life teenagers get stressed because of these changes they observe within themselves and in the surroundings. So, every parent and guardian needs to guide their child about how to take care of stress in adolescence.

 

Teenagers are neither like children who will believe in your imaginary stories nor they are mature enough to understand everything as an adult person. This transition make the adolescence period very sophisticated. They become very sensitive. You can make them happy with a little praise at the same your little criticism can make them furious. If you are a parent of a kid who is currently going through his/her adolescence period you need to be extra careful while dealing with him/her.

 

Now, for the teenager readers- I know how are you feeling right now as I have gone through this stage few years back. I know discovering the life and yourself from a whole new dimension are not something easy to get use to with. It often puts lots of pressure. Besides, the emotional fluctuations also create pressure on you. So you need to know how to take care of stress in adolescence in order to have a strain free relaxed adolescence. Here are some effective tips for you:

 

·        Try to get enough rest and sleep at least six to seven hours a day. Sleep is very important for mental and physical welfare. Lack of rest and exhaustion can have negative impact on controlling stress. If you cannot sleep properly at the night do not forget to take a nap in the afternoon. It will refresh your mind at the same time will energize you to fight your stresses.

·        In the adolescence most of the young people love to have junk foods instead of nutritious foods like milk, vegetables. Lack of nutrition will make you more prone to stress. So eating nutritious food is very important.

·        Yoga and exercise can be very effective ways of taking care of your stress in adolescence. Most of the time teenagers get impatient very easily. Stresses affect impatient people more than the patient ones. So being patient is one of the key to control your stress in adolescence. Practicing yoga on a regular basis makes yourself more patient and focused on whatever you do. Exercise, on the other hand keeps your mind refresh. Thus, both of these have certain positive influence on controlling stress.

·        Sharing will always help you to lessen your stress. If you get tensed about something, or if something is bothering you for a while then share it with your parents or elder sibling or with a friend. After sharing you will feel like something heavier has been removed from your head.

·        Distract yourself by something you like to do. Distraction always helps to lessen the stress. If you love drawing, singing or dancing, you can try them to distract your mind form the things that are bothering you. You can also watch a funny movie or one of your favorite movies or listen to some of your favorite songs as well. If you do not feel like doing any of these another great way of lessening your stress is hanging out with your best buddies. After spending some fun times with your friends you will definitely feel relieved.

·        Do not try to escape the problems rather try to face it because sooner or later you will have to do that. Having this attitude is very important. Otherwise, your stresses will intervene on your normal course of life.

·        Be positive- try to have this outlook. In spite of finding the negative things in every attitude, in every incident- try to think about it in a positive way. I know this cannot be achieved over night. Try to make it a part of your habit. The positive side of everything always has way better effects than the worse strenuous effects of the negative side. So try to build this attitude.

·        Do not suppress your emotion. It usually not only ends up with an outburst but also create continuous stress on your mind. Instead, listen to your emotions and express you feelings. If someone hurt your feelings, tell him/her about how much you got hurt by his/her behavior in a nice way. It is not that you have to tell him on that very moment, you can tell later on. You can also write it on your personal journal to process your emotion. Writing about your feeling can reduce your stress very effectively and I know most of the teenager loves to keep a persona journal. If you do not have one, start writing one. You will see the difference by yourself within a few days.
