I Think, Therefore I Am
Cogito Ergo Sum – Rene Descartes a French Philosopher coined this term in 17th Century. The interpretation of this term is that “I think of something or my existence which in itself is a proof that I do exist”. The vary act of thinking defines me and my identity else it would not have been me. This was a real booster to you as an individual or your true self and it is the simple truth that matters.
This phrase has since been used with varied meanings and with a simple intention to glorify the existence of human beings and the impossible that they can achieve. There is no one who is better than you but the real you. An understanding of our existence and how we can maximize the essence of our capabilities makes this phrase a great starting point. I do believe in my existence and the difference I make to my and other lives. But Yes, there is a real me which needs to be motivated and inspired to take challenges of life. Additionally there are emotions and feelings which need a way out to make us feel better and hopeful for good times ahead. It is in this front that this phrase matters and is where we can make the best use of it.
Lets work on one of its connotation and how it can help us rock.
Think of any Sport. Ask from any team member who is about to lose in next 5 minutes if he can still win. The reply would be
1) Yes they are sure that they will win
2) The got everything to rock and there is nothing that can make them lose
3) You got to see till last minute because Games not over yet.
The reply would never ever be
1) The game is over for them
2) They knew right from start that they cannot win
3) It was a lost battle.
Have you ever thought why they do not accept defeat and stay with their belief of winning?
Because they are conditioned that way
1) They have seen the last minute game changes in their lives
2) They know how to stay motivated in every condition
3) They know how to clinch last minute wins.
Get Deeper and you would find that there is no room for negative emotions. Negative emotions
1) Influence our thoughts
2) Influence our body
3) Influence our actions
Yes, they Do
1) You Think you are upset, therefore you are upset. No matter how hard you try, once you have thought you are upset you are bound to believe in it.
2) You think you are tired, therefore you would be tired. Once you have developed this feeling there is nothing that can make you believe otherwise.
3) You think you are bad; therefore you would be bad only. The perception would make you look on bad side of things only.
On the contrary
1) You think you can win; therefore you still have a good chance
2) You think you got extra energy to work overnight, therefore you would work because you body feels the same way.
3) You think you are benevolent, therefore every action you would do will be directed towards helping others.
It is all in the mind. What you think shapes the way that defines your existence.
It has tremendous value in shaping our personality and how we perceive our real self. On other front it is biggest weapon to bring out your potent potentials and realize them fully.
Everything starts in the mind. It is mental conditioning that gives you an attitude of a winner or loser.
And How you can maximize it
1) By looking at positive side of things
2) By making yourself believe in it
3) By working hard to make it real.
No Retreat, No Surrender. Just kill the negative thoughts.
That’s for a Winner, That’s for you.
So next time if you see something that cannot be achieved. Tell yourself.
I think it can be achieved; therefore I am going to make it happen.
You would see the difference. For Sure.
