List Of Indigenous Groups


Before going for indigenous groups, let’s talk about who are indigenous people. They are the people and communities who have a historical background and cultural affinity with their societies. They have no link with the western culture. These groups of indigenous people consider themselves different from other well-known cultures. They are obviously in minority and they have a vast difference in religions and languages from the major cultures. They are often called as native people, first people and sometimes called as autochthonous. Many indigenous groups currently exist in different parts of the world. The list of indigenous groups is as follows:

 

The list of indigenous groups in Ecuador:

Chachi, Cofán, Epera, Huaorani, Secoya, Shuar, Sioa, Tsachila, Zaparo, Cañari, Caras, Cayambi, Caranqui, Chibuleo, Otavalo, Panzaleo, Puruhá, Salasaca, Saraguro, Quitu, Valdivia culture.

Hadza, Fipa, Lambya, Makonde, Maasai, Safwa, Chaga, Bembe

Southeast Asia generally includes the mainland region sometimes known as Indochina, and the Malay archipelago.

The continent of Africa includes associated islands like Madagascar, but not Arabia.

 

List of indigenous groups – Central Africa

Central Africa generally includes the lands mainly of the Congo River basin, south of the Sahara and west of the Great Rift Valley. The most active group in central Africa is Pygmy peoples which are situated at Central and Western Africa

 

List of indigenous people – East Africa

East Africa generally includes the Horn of Africa region and (parts of) surrounding countries.

Maasai: Kenya and Tanzania, Nuba: Sudan, Ogiek: Kenya.

 

List of indigenous people – North Africa

North Africa normally includes African countries with borders on the Mediterranean Sea, northern Red Sea and Atlantic Ocean, which is bounded largely by the Sahara Desert to the south.

Berbers: western North Africa- (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco), Tuareg: Sahara desert.

 

List of indigenous people – Southern Africa

Southern Africa generally includes lands from the Cape of Good Hope northwards to the borders of Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania, and islands such as Madagascar, Bushmen: Kalahari Desert.

West Africa generally includes the southern part of the Bulge of Africa, bounded by the Sahara Desert to the north.

Baka, Duala people, Ogoni people (Nigeria), Tuareg, Tubu (southern Sahara).

These are the list of indigenous groups present in different parts of the world. It should be noticed that though they all are indigenous groups but, none of them has similarities between them. With differences in the boundaries of nation, their interest, language, dresses all are different from each other. They are the people who have long history and well maintained culture of their own. Indigenous groups are in minority and generally fully detach from the western world.
