Love is what the world needs for peace. But unfortunately it can never be. Sorry to sound so pessimistic. But it is a fact. How long have the song of peace and love been on, attempts at establishing peaceful coexistence is increasingly becoming impossible, despite all invested efforts. The meaning of true love is surprisingly lost in a world that claims to know about love. People have an opaque knowledge about love. What is practiced today is in fact a caricature of love and not the true meaning of it. Love is indeed a medicine of peace and progress and for that reason it is relevant to know and understand what the word really stands for. To help you define love, fruits or consequences of love are few of the issues on focus in discussing the meaning of true love.

Is True Love Possible In World?

Love as people say is what makes the world go round. It is a factor that enhances peaceful co-existence. The evidence of the dearth of love in the society is evident in increase in wars, hates crimes, and many other societal evil. “Hatred sirs up dissension, love covers all wrong” (proverbs 10.12). So love in effect is a masker, it covers up weaknesses. For instance if your wife is an alcoholic, you will support, and lovingly help her to overcome her weaknesses by lending her your strength. Wars, stealing, murder, envy, racism, discord, child abuse, abortion, and many other hates crimes is due to love deficiency. Can love be restored in this world of wickedness? Is there hope for love? Well, the chance of this happening is very remote, according to the bible which is the number one resource for love. It was prophesized that in the last days, which is now that the love of man will wax cold: mother will hate father, brother against brothers, sisters against sisters, friends against friends, and so on. Look around and you will see that the prophecy is already manifested and it will still get worst.

The human heart is a major factor against the projection of true love. Every action humans takes stems from the heart. The heart is an orbit where hatred and evil things revolves. God says the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it? Shakespeare in the story of “Macbeth” in an attempt to describe the heart of man in reference to the wickedness of Macbeth asserts that it is not possible to preconceive the condition of human thoughts. So if the heart is desperately wicked, and there is no way to fathom the state of the heart merely looking at the face, then where is hope for love? Perhaps knowing the meaning of true love will help find the road back to love.

What Is The Meaning Of True Love?

Love has no definite general definition. The only meaning that has stood the test of time is the one put forward in the bible. Though this definition is practical and possible, surprisingly it is ignored by many. People tend to do things their way. In Corinthians 14.4-13, a long list of definition/features of love was declared, this type of love is called an agape love – unconditional, and no strings attached love.

Love is true. Love always says the truth, it never deceives nor lie. One way to identify the meaning of true love is to look for truth similitude in people’s action, especially those that claims to love you. Have you ever fall victim of blackmail, and betrayal?

Love gives. Another way to identify love is in its giving: no strings attached. The focus is always to please, and not to gain, and it does not ask for a reimbursement. The only repayment is happiness and satisfaction.

Love is humble, and forgives: forgiveness and humility is another major signs of the meaning of true love. If husband and wife can truly forgive wrongs committed against one another, the cases of divorce will reduce. It is not easy to forgive. Because some wrongs are so bad and intense. Some people due to the degree of wrong committed against them carry the touch around till it is exorcised by malicious ingredient of revenge. Love forgives easily, accept apology with grace and move on.

Love is respectful: Ability to confer value when needed in right doses is respect. Love sees the good and values it, at the same time it accepts weaknesses with the sole intention of supporting and assisting where it can

Love is not the way the world sees it. It is high time that people embrace the truth. World organizations efforts like the “UN” will continue to waste because there is no way war can bring long lasting solutions to problems. The attempt of United States at restoring peace in Iraq is an example of employing hatred (weapons of war) to douse hatred. Love is the only language of peace, so when there is chaos love is the best tool to bring peace. The same also applies to all conditions like: marriage
