Planning A Surprise Party

Good surprises always take us aback. We are even more appreciative of a good surprise party. It adds to our achievements. Although surprise parties sound very exciting, planning a surprise party is not an easy task. Apart from keeping the program hidden until the very moment, there are other things that you would want to ensure if you want to plan a surprise party that would go smoothly from start till end. When you are planning a surprise party, there are certain things that should go on your checklist. Following are a list of some of the things that you must take care of in order to throw a good party:

·        Who is the party for? : The most important thing to remember when you are planning the surprise party is who is the person that you are planning this party for? Is it your parent, a sibling, a friend, your spouse your child or a colleague? Depending upon the person and the intimacy of relationship that you have with him/her you should proceed to the next step of planning the surprise party.

·        Will there be any theme for the party, if yes then what? : If the party is going to be based on a theme then it certainly does add color to the event but at the same time it is also adding a lot of responsibilities to your already long to-do list to. Because, you have to arrange everything according to your theme and any little mishap can change the theme or mood of the party, you need to take this step very cautiously. Again, your theme will be totally dependent on the person and his/her likes and dislikes. If someone is interested in football, you can take a theme on football. Other interesting and uncommon theses can be, underwater, pink palace (for your little girl may be), floral, jungle, science, space etc.

·        Is the guest list ready yet? : Planning the surprise party will definitely require inviting some guests over. The sooner you prepare this list, the better. Why? Because if you prepare the list earlier, you will not risk leaving out anyone’s name for the list, you will be able to get cooperation from these guests and distribute the workload. After all, planning a surprise party is exciting when everyone is making contribution of some sort.

·        What time of the year is the party being held? : This is one of the questions that people often forget to take into account. One of the most important things to consider is the time of the year. Why? Because, based on that, preferences on outfits, food etc will definitely change.

·        Who can be free? : Another thing that must be inquired is whether everyone (including the person for who the surprise party is being planned!) is free. It is often the case that people have works coming up at the last minute that are unavoidable. In that case, it is unfortunate for everyone and not much can be done. But, planning much ahead can minimize these last minute calls. If you take everyone’s opinion on the convenient date, then most people, if not all, will be able to show up. This showing up is really important to the person for who you are arranging the surprise party. If he/she sees all the loved ones around on the grand day, his/her happiness will double, after all, you are planning the surprise party to make this person happy, right?

·        Have the food been ordered yet? : You should contact the caterer and make proper reservation (if an outside venue) or order food much ahead of time. If you are cooking, you should, keeping the taste of the person to be surprised in head, plan the menu much ahead of time. You never know what last minute emergency will show up. In order to take care of those, you should be prepared much earlier to face any unwanted surprise yourself.

·        Does the person know? : The most important thing to manage when you plan a surprise party is the fact that you are keeping the entire party a surprise to the recipient. Because, if the person comes to know beforehand, the ultimate fun will be gone. In order to ensure the person does not get a clue on this planning, you can busy him/her up with distractions at least on the day/night of the party. For example, someone can take him/her shopping and then bring back right in the middle of the party.

These are some of the checklist emergencies that you don’t want to miss when you are planning a surprise party. Take care of all of these and you will have a wonderful time!
