All of us have some dreams and goals in our life. We all want to accomplish something or the other. This is a foundation of human being. Without goals and dreams, no one can move ahead in his life. To feel the growth, setting and achieving goals are the stepping stones. We can have goals in our personal life or in professional life. It is needless to say that the goals are the only thing which decides our behavior for the next few hours, months, years or up till the goal finishes. Setting and achieving goals is very important in order to maintain a perfect flow in life. It is even better if we make it a habit in our day to day life. A good match of setting and achieving goals can change our destiny as well. Here, are few points which can help someone in this regard.

 

1. Establishment of goals in a very clear and specific way

Vague goals have no destinations. They never convert into reality and if they do, they become immeasurable. It is always wise to establish goals in a very clear and specific way. Suppose if I say “I want to lose my weight” then this sentence is vague as it is not considering time and limit. If I say “I want to lose my 10kg weight by this year end” then this statement is probably more clear and specific and it has all the required information. This is also measurable. Goals should be like this only. Any ambiguity in goal can lead to confusion later and you may end up without completing it. And by establishing a clear goal, setting and achieving goals can be a good experience.

2. Strengthen your commitment

It is very important to strengthen the commitment. You must know why you want to reach your goal. What is the need of that goal in your life? If you are well aware of these facts then accomplishing goals could be more real and easier. If you really get involve in your dreams then your chances to achieve them could get increased as well. Make your challenges as the integral part of your life, then they will be easier to accomplish. Get serious for your dreams and make proper plans to achieve them. Direction is very important in setting and achieving goals, so one should have a proper direction as well. Take it as an unavoidable challenge and try to complete it anyhow or by applying any means.

3. Break your bigger goal into smaller ones

Once you made a long term goal of your life or in other words, you have decided that where you want to land up after few years down the line, now it’s time to select a pathway. You can only reach up to that bigger goal by breaking it into some smaller goals. Suppose, you aim to become a doctor after 5 years then this is your bigger goal. Now, you have to fragment it into some smaller goals like you first have to get medical education. Then you need to search for the opportunities and after accomplishing these smaller goals, you can achieve your higher goal.

4. Set deadlines

It is always important to set deadlines for you. Without deadlines, you cannot achieve your higher goals. And even by setting the deadlines, you can complete all your work on time without any delay. It is obvious that people find it difficult to achieve desired target as it involves determination and hard work. But by setting deadlines, you can avoid this ambiguity. Setting and achieving goals can be made simpler by setting deadlines for all your small and big goals.

5. Keep track of your progress and adjust your goal if necessary

It is very necessary to keep a detailed track of progress in setting and achieving goals. It works as a motivation in achieving those targets. Listing of work done can be helpful in determining what needs to avoid in the future. Time keeps on changing, so it is vital to keep on revising your goals and finding that whether there are any additions or not. You have to make sure that by the time you complete your target, your goal should not get obsolete.
