Strategies For Effective And Efficient Time Management


Individuals running out of time are constantly on the lookout for Strategies for ‘Effective and Efficient Time Management’ because we are all living in a world of constant stress and time constraints. People are always complaining that 24 hours in a day is not enough, but even if we have 48 hours in a day it will not be enough because we have not learned the art of managing our time effectively, efficiently and intelligently. 1. Sleep, Exercise and Diet:-The three most important things in a person’s life without which no matter how much we earn we cannot enjoy if we do not have the health for it. Devote eight hours of in the night for a good and peaceful rest. A rested mind is a power house of performance and the body feels fresh and active in the morning. Once up in the morning devote some time foe exercise followed by a conscious diet of nutritious fruits and cereals with milk. Then begin your day as per planned schedule.

 

2. Making a list for the entire week:-List all the things that you have to do for the entire week. It makes the perspective of your schedule clear. Don’t put down too many things as it may not be possible to accomplish everything. Not completing everything on the list leads to disappointment which can be avoided

 

3. Prioritize your task according to the nature of its importance:- It is very important to take a good look at this list, then list what has to be completed first and accordingly prioritize your tasks according to the nature of its importance.

 

4. Set a clear goal: -

Once the tasks are prioritized go about setting a clear goal

i.e. a particular task has to be completed for that day and within the stipulated time. Even if you make a mistake you have gained valuable experience and you can always bounce back.

 

5. Perseverance: - Perseverance is one of the most important qualities that a person needs or requires to achieve something. You have to go after a task or a goal till it is achieved.

 

6. Avoid Procrastination: - Once you have prioritized your tasks don’t put them off thinking you can do it another day. This way work piles up and it will leave you feeling frustrated and defeated because you have not done what should have done long before.

 

7. Organize your time:-Have an organized schedule. Organize your time on a daily basis. Fix time and appointments with your clients, important meetings, seminars, workshops as well as enough time for rest, recreation and valuable family time.

 

8. Delegate and organize your tasks: - After your tasks are prioritized find other people at home as well as the office who can help you with your duties. Don’t hesitate to delegate work to people who are ready to offer you services. See whom you can trust and whom you can depend on.

 

9. Stress is important but Stress is Intangible:-Once tasks are prioritized the last thing you want is stress, but successful people always owe their success to a little bit of stress and tension. Without a certain amount of pressure building up within you, important tasks will never get achieved. The tempo, pressures and the deadline under which we have to work leaves our nerves frayed and sapped of energy that is why we say stress is intangible i.e. not clear and definite. We never know when we need a little bit of stress in our lives.

 

10. Keep on improving your time management skills:-Once you have slowly begun achieving the art of managing your time effectively and efficiently don’t fall into a slump, keep on improving your time management skills as other people may have better techniques of managing their time. This we can learn by attending seminars and workshops on time management

 

11. Review your tasks by the end of the week:-Once you have gained the self-confidence to complete your tasks by organizing your time and following the simple basic rules and regulations of time management go back and review your tasks by the end of the week. This will give you a clear idea of how much work you were able to handle by effectively and efficiently putting in to practice the valuable techniques of time management.
