Surprise Birthdays Ideas

It’s pretty hard to find new surprise birthdays ideas because it seems that everything has been done before. Still, you should always try to find new things for the people you love, because even though it won’t be original, you will still get credit for the effort you put into it. Now, there are a lot of specialized sites and businesses revolving around ways to organize a party, and they should be taken into consideration if you really find yourself drawing a blank, but it would be much more personal if you try to come up with an idea yourself based on the things you know about the person. In the following paragraphs I will try to give you some ideas that have worked for me in various situations. This doesn’t mean they are fool proof, but I can say that it is pretty hard to go wrong with these tried and tested surprise birthday ideas.

1.      Organize a surprise birthday party. Of course it has been done before and is pretty much a cliché by now, but it can still be one of the best surprise birthday ideas. The key is to let as few people as you can know about what you are planning. Even the guests should be announced as late as possible about the party. Of course you run the risk of them not being able to make it if you let them know too late, but you can get around this by just telling them not to make plans for that specific evening without more details. Remember, the fewer the people who know about what you are planning the fewer the chances of somebody spilling the beans and ruining the surprise. Another thing you can do is to have the party before or after the actual birthday, so that the person who you are trying to surprise will not have a clue.

2.      Kidnap. Well this sounds a bit creepy but it can turn out to be one of those surprise birthday ideas perfect for thrill seekers. Make sure that the person you are trying to surprise hasn’t any important business that day. Then make up a reason to get him or her out of the house. When he or she does leave the house, pull up next to him in a black van and jump out of the back with some of your other friends with masks on, and kidnap him. For an added bonus you can fire squirt guns at him, while the soundtrack from 007 plays in the car’s stereo. Blindfold him, get him in the car, make him change into some cloths you have prepared for him in advance and take him to the party you have organized beforehand. The trick is to not take it to seriously and give the person you want to surprise a heart attack.

3.      A road trip birthday party. If the person you are trying to surprise likes to travel a lot than this can be the perfect idea you were looking for. Organize a trip to some place you know that person desperately wants to go. Even though it won’t be much of a surprise if you tell them to get up on their birthday as early as they can and get ready for a trip, it will still be a big surprise the location you where thinking of. This you can transform the party from just a couple of hours in the evening to a whole day of celebrating.

4.      Thematic surprise birthday party. Surprise birthday parties have a way of getting ruined by big mouths that always end up telling the person you want to surprise about the party. So if you can’t hide the fact that you are going to hold a party, than you should just try to make the party be unexpected in its self. This is one of those great surprise birthday ideas. You should for example make everybody dress up as for a Halloween party. And you should decorate the venue in a spooky way as well. This way you can make sure that the person will be surprised, not by the party its self but by the fact that everybody is dressed up in monster costumes.

Great surprise birthday ideas are in short supply because almost everything has been done already. But this doesn’t mean that you should give up. Always try to find new ideas that are specific for the person you want to surprise. Put a lot of thought in to it and be assured that he or she will notice. The ideas above are just some that have worked very well for me, so they are not full proof and some people may find some of them distasteful, so be cautious about who you decide to apply them on. Good luck and Happy Birthday!
