Team Building In The Workplace 6 Rules For Everyone To Follow

Team Building at the workplace required rules so that each individual understand what is expected from them and how success can be achieved. There are 6 golden rules which aim at developing an attitude of successful team players. Incorporate them and you would find a healthy environment that would strive for nothing but success. Let’s start

1) Respect Others Opinion and Views- The first and most important trait is to respect others opinion and views. Each individual is different and so it their mindset to look at problems. Good ideas remain hidden and they often come from people who are closer to action. It is important to respect other people jobs and their opinions. Their views may or may not matter but rejecting them out rightly is always wrong. You need to imbibe quality in team members that promotes respect for others. You can read more about them read Opinions And Advice – How To Make Best Use of Them.

2) You Own the Timelines and End Result- It is not the manager, team leader, or the supervisor who owns the timeliness and the end result entirely but it is you too who owns them. Doing your own portion and then relieving yourself from what happens next is a loser mentality. Team members are important part of process and they should incorporate the habit of making other team members successful. It is important to avoid fail forward situation and raise red flags at appropriate time. A vision of success and respect for timelines is required for excellent results.

3) Be Part of Solution Not Problem- A common habit of most people is to support and pose problems rather than finding their solution. They get a kick by delaying things and seeing other people fail. One of important trait that is required in team members is leadership. They are required to go an extra mile to bring fineness in the things that they own. Team members need to find solution and they need to find it fast. Problem should not remain problems once it is put on the table. Seek winners who solve problems rather than glorifying them.

4) Differ but Commit-Difference in views and thoughts are important and they are worth it. It is important to have healthy discussion to seek smart solutions. You need to get inside the room with differences but when you come out you should come out as one. It is important to have discussion but agree on a plan to which everyone’s commit. Direction can be one only but everyone needs to be signed to it even if its not the one they prefer to follow. Either prove your point or agree to what others believe but in end commit.

5) Share what you Learn-Insecurity is an important factor which make people hide things from other team members. While it is an organization responsibility to provide conducive and secure environment, it is important for team members to share their learning’s. It is important not only to help other members succeed but also prevent situations where the failures happens despite the presence of the knowledge in the system.

6) Team Success is your Success- Developing a mindset where an individual succeed only when team succeed is important for team success. See some team sports and how everyone has specific roles to play in it. They play as a team and for common goal of winning. Winners do exist and they matter only when the team succeeds.

Team building takes time and it is a long process. You need to start today in order to see the results in near future. It is the mindset that needs to be attacked and aligned rather than any other thing. Team Building in the workplace is important aspect for success in any corporate and if it has been ignored you are at the grave risk of not only losing projects but valuable people too.
