Tips For A Great Morning Start

Getting a great morning start is essential to achieving what you set out to do in any particular day. I have found out that one of the easiest things to do in order to be more productive is to take a closer look at my morning ritual and realize what I am doing wrong. I can honestly say that since I became accustom to a more strict morning schedule, my concentration at work improved, also my creativity, and above anything else, I was much better rested throughout the day. And the best thing is that the changes I have made aren’t that radical, so I’m sure anyone could do it. So, without any other delay, I will present to you the top tips that helped me get a great morning start for more than two years now, every day:

1.    Drink a glass of water when you wake up. You probably must think I’m joking but this is the easiest thing you could do in order to improve your morning start. It doesn’t seem like much but most people neglect this simple habit. Your body gets dehydrated during sleep and thus you may feel fatigued and grouchy when you get up. My advice to you is to not go straight for the cup of coffee, or not to wait until you make yourself breakfast. When you wake up, drink a whole glass of water, and you will see the benefits immediately.

2.    Get a good night’s sleep.  This one is obvious but I must insist that in order to get a great morning start every day you need to be consistent with your sleeping pattern. For example you should not count on the fact that you are busy today so you will only get four hours of sleep because tomorrow you will get ten, because this will throw of your internal body clock. Try to get six hours of sleep a night every night no matter the circumstances.

3.    Get up earlier. I have found that if I go to bed at about 11 pm and get up at 5, by 7 or 8 when everybody else usually gets up I have already managed to accomplish something that day. Plus that time between 5 and 7 is extremely peaceful and you feel like you are the only person awake, and you are getting a head start on everybody else.

4.    Have a peaceful breakfast. I can’t stress this enough, if there will be only one tip that would stick with you from this list, than I hope it is this one. I usually use the head start I was talking about at the previous point to have a peaceful breakfast. If you want to keep your body happy and in tip top shape than you must never eat on the run. Take as much time as you need in order to fully enjoy your meal. Turn any distraction of, no TV, no PC, just enjoy cooking and eating your food, and you will see it will make a world of difference.

5.    Read for fifteen minutes. I found that a great way to get ready for a busy day is to have a bit of peace and quiet, I order to relax after you wake up. One of the best ways to achieve this is to read a book. It doesn’t matter if it’s only ten pages, this will help you relax and it will get you thru the day. Make a habit out of it, every day and you will get a great morning start.

6.    Get a bit of exercise done. You need to take care of your body if you want your mind to fire on all cylinders. Don’t neglect your body’s needs, so get a bit of exercise done every morning in order to keep yourself healthy. This way you will be able to get rid of those pesky aches and pains that you feel every day and consider inevitable.

7.     Think about what you want to accomplish today. In order to have a great morning start you need to organize your thoughts. Take into consideration what is possible to accomplish and try to do it. Don’t set out to move mountains in one single day, have small goals, and realize them step by step. This way you won’t lose a lot of your day by getting stressed about what you need to do, and how many things have piled up.

So, these are my top tips for a great morning start. They may not seem like much, but trust me, they are very effective. The key of course is that you should try to be consistent which is very hard. No matter the circumstances try to keep to this schedule and only then will you be able to appreciate its effectiveness. That is why my tips don’t even seem like that big a deal, because they are something you could actually do every day, and not some made up miracle cure that is impossible to stick to for more than three days. So, I hope I could be of help, and I wish you the have a great morning start every day.
