Tips To Develop Your Will Power

Will power is to make a decision and follow it until you get a success. Everyone in this world has will power. The only difference is that the intensity of strength of a person’s will power varies from person to person. This is intrinsic to a person’s nature but that does not mean that it cannot be developed. For the development and conservation of will power some formula may be suggested. Here are a few tips to develop your will power and emerge as a winner.

Specify Your Goal In Terms Of Quantity

When you specify a goal, do not do so in qualitative terms, instead quantify them. This makes your work easier. For example, instead of saying that I will lose weight say that you will visit the gym every day for a minimum of one hour. Quantifying things is one of the tips to develop your will power. This makes it sure that even if you lose some weight in a month, you will not stop visiting the gym because your goal is achieved. Instead, you go to gym everyday and spend that much time as promised to yourself irrespective of the amount of weight loss.

Read Your Daily Things To Do List

You never know when you feel like not getting up thereby letting your will power slip. Before going to bed, prepare a list of things to do. Every day, after you get up, go through the list. Even if you know what is there in the list, since it is you who has prepared it. The more you read it, the more motivated you will feel to do the tasks.

Make Reasonable Goals

One of the important tips to develop your will power is to make goals which are reasonable in nature. Making weird goals will make it difficult for a person to fulfill them thereby wasting their will power. Before making goals, think whether they can be done by you or not. Ask yourself whether they are achievable in the given time frame that you are keeping for it.

Prioritize Your Work

If you have an overtly busy schedule then prioritizing your work on the basis of their importance is one of the tips to develop your will power. You may have many tasks which you like to do but are of lesser value as compared to others. A true test of will power is when you choose tasks to perform not because you like doing them; but because they are important than the others.

What Will Happen Otherwise

Whenever you feel lazy and do not want to move a limb, think what would happen if you do not do what you are supposed to do at this time. It is very important to think of the consequences which will affect us later if we don’t get up now. Thinking about the future will make you sit up and act towards it.

Beware Of Excuses

Making excuses is one of the biggest setbacks to the development of your will power. Try to save yourself from lame excuses like “I do not want to go for my Tai Chi classes because it is raining or it is hot outside”. Remember, staying away from such excuses is one of the most important tips to develop your will power. Do not give yourself any chance to shirk away from your duties or responsibilities just because you are feeling lazy. Push yourself harder. Believe me, once you have accomplished the task, you will feel very nice about not giving in to your excuse. Do not give yourself any option to rest when you should have been working.

Recognize That Every Time Matters

One of the many tips to develop your will power is to realize that time is of the essence. You need to realize that if you do a given task on time then only it will be fruitful. Remember that each time you do not reinforce your will to do the task, you are letting the habit of not taking time seriously, stay on with you. Time matters. Skipping your schedules and not realizing the importance of time can make you suffer at a later age.

Give Yourself A Pat On Our Back

Once you have achieved something, it is important to reward yourself for building will power to accomplish few goals. Being able to successfully complete a task will not only reinforce your own belief in yourself but also provide credibility to your public image. This is also one of the many tips to develop your will power. Do not wait for someone else to praise you, instead do it yourself. This is called positive reinforcement and is a very effective tool in building your will power.

All these tips to develop your will power will surely be helpful in your life to achieve goals and live a successful and happy life.
