Value Of Education In Our Lives

You have heard plenty of times as a child that it was very important to go to school, get a qualification and a good paying job. But many people forget that the value of education in our lives does only depend on us. Let me explain. You can become a PHD doctorate and still unable to sell your skills and get a well paying job.

Today, when unfortunately many children do only go to colleges and universities or get qualifications because their parents want them to, or just to have some extra years for themselves when they can live their life, we have to look into the real values education creates in people's lives.

The value of education in our lives depends on how we choose out path. If you really want to become a doctor and you do everything to succeed, the university education is going to make you get closer to your dreams. But without this attitude and determination your years and energy can be wasted. So it is very important to choose your profession carefully to avoid disappointments.

They say that the value of education has been downgraded in the past 50 years, as it has become much easier to get accepted for a university of college, and the more people are attending higher education the lower the quality of it becomes. It is true that the so called “wastage” of higher education has been increasing in the past decades, but in  my opinion it is plainly down to the fact that people are not aware of the importance of making the right choice for institutions, programs and professions.

The real value of education in our lives all comes down to this: what are you going to use your degree for. If you are just wanting a degree because it sounds cool and everyone in your family does, but you are not particularly keen on the subject, there is no value in the education you completed, and it just is money time and energy wasted. If you do not like what they teach you it is more likely that you are not going to practice you profession, change it in the future, and incur more costs later, not to mention the years you have wasted.

If you are actually using the stuff you have learned over the years, the value of your education can increase year by year. Let's say that you did learn to be a lawyer. You like helping people and have completed several studies and extra work for an organization. You liked your teachers and they saw that you were really keen on becoming a good lawyer. If you put your energy in extra projects, you might end up with several job offers when you finish your formal education and you will choose the one that offers the most space to grow and the most financial rewards.

But even if you did attend a very famous institute and your parents paid thousands of dollars each semester, if you were playing for “survival” there is no chance the same thing is going to happen to you. There are loads of people studying different subjects and very few make it to the top. You need to become special and above average to succeed in your life, and that is what is going to determine the real value of education.

The Main Factors That Determine Value Of Education In Our Lives

·        The quality of education we received

·        The grades we obtained

·        The personal relationships we developed

·        Professional relationships and connections that help us obtaining a job with a good salary and position

·        The reputation and name of the institute we attended

·        How much people around us value our education

·        The life skills we obtained during the education

·        How the education developed and shaped out personality

·        How much we can pass on to other people of our knowledge we obtained during formal education

If you look into your heart you will be able to determine how much education means to you. Does it mean that your self esteem has increased? Does it mean that you have the pride of achievement every time you look at your graduation pictures? Do you compare yourself to people who attended the same high school and ended up with less or lower qualifications with you? What do you think people do think about your skills and qualifications? Are your parents proud of you?

Only by answering the above questions shall we  be able to determine the value of education in our lives, and it has nothing to do with costs and statistics.
