What Breed Of Cat Is Right For You
Owning and taking care of a cat is not such an easy thing to do. Many people get it wrong in the earliest stage, when it comes to picking the right cat species for them. The species of the cat will most likely determine the personality it might have the illnesses it is prawn too, and the maintenance it needs. So finding the right cat is a very tricky job. That is why I compiled a list of some of the most famous cat species, with their strong and week points, and for what kind of owner they would be right. So let see what breed of cat is right for you:
1. Abyssinian. This is a very smart breed of cats, which are also energetic and have a lot of endurance. It is also one of the oldest breeds of cats, depictions of it being found in ancient Egyptian images. They come in four color varieties the most popular being a brown-rusty color and they have beautiful golden or green almond shape eyes, and pointed years. Combine that with a very slender and athletic body, and the Abyssinian has a very wild look about it. This breed is extremely curious and energetic and will always find something in the apartment to play with. It doesn’t like to be held a lot, so it isn’t necessarily good for a family with small children. So if you are asking yourself what kind of cat is right for you, you might want to give the Abyssinian a chance.
2. Birman. This breed of cats has its origins deep in Asia where it supposedly was the sacred cat of the monks of Burma. The breed made its way to France in the 19th century and is now one of the most popular cat breeds in the world. This cat is extremely beautiful with big round blue eyes, with long fluffy silky coat, and white paws that stand out from the general color of the coat. It is very easy-going and has a sterling disposition. It makes an excellent family cat because it is very affectionate and has a very calm temperament.
3. Cornish Rex. This is a relatively new breed which appeared in the 1950’s in Cornwall. It has some very interesting characteristics, such as the arched back, its curly coat, extremely soft to the touch, oval eyes, and bat-like years that sit high on the breeds head. This ct is playful, sociable and fun loving as long as you have the energy to keep up with them. They have a very aristocratic look about them, with their long slender legs. This extrovert, energetic cat could be a very good idea for an active family. So if you fit this profile and you want to know what kind of cat is right for you, then look no further than the Cornish Rex.
4. Egyptian Mau. This is a pretty rare breed of cat but it is actually one of the oldest. It is the only naturally spotted direct descendent of the African wild cat. It has another important characteristic: it is the fastest pedigree cat breeds in the world. It can reach a top speed of 30 miles per hour, and this is due to long muscular hind legs. These cats come in three shades of color: silver, bronze, and smoke, all with black spots. This cat is extremely protective of its owner and toys, but overall it makes a good, devoted family cat. If you consider speed of any importance when you are asking yourself what kind of cat is right for you, than the Egyptian Mau should be your choice.
5. Savannah. This breed was actually a result of crossing a wild serval African cat with a domestic cat. The result was the biggest cat bread in the world, with males and females weighing about 30 pounds. Also it is the cat that can jump the highest and the longest of any bread. They can jump 7 meters into the air from a perfect stand still. They also have very long legs and they look like little leopards, with a black spotted golden coat. They have big ears, and they like the water. But you do have to keep in mind that owning a Savannah is very similar to owning a dog because of its size, and it has wild genes so it’s not for everybody.
These were some of my favorite and what I consider some of the most interesting breeds of cats out there. I think this short list might come in handy when you are thinking what kind of cat is right for you. Also, you have to remember, that each individual cat has its own personality, and might not fit exactly in the characteristics of the bread.
