‘Success’ according to the Collins English Dictionary means achievement of something attempted or attainment of wealth, fame or position. Everyone dreams of being successful in their lives. It is natural to want to have the best things in life. To own plenty of money, property and businesses, but is it easy to get all this by just wishing?
Why does success elude so many people in this world? The answer to this question is quite they are not prepared to put in their 100% best in terms of quality time and also their whole being into the attainment of the best. That is why so many people lead ordinary lives whereas others walk the ‘red carpets’ of success and achievement. So what is the key to success? The answer to this question lies within us. Let’s examine these tenets which show us the right way to achieve success
Attitude- One of the most important keys to success is attitude. We have to develop the right attitude towards our life and our work or business and the people we deal with. No matter how hard it is to deal with difficult and stressful situations we must always remain positive and upbeat that the direction we have chosen in our lives is the right one for us.
Attributes- The key to success in any venture or undertaking is also largely contributed by a person’ 0s attributes. If a person possesses qualities of calm and a composed person then teaching and research is more suited to him. On the other hand if a person possesses qualities of an aggressive nature then the person is more likely to get into business. We must never forget that our qualities and attributes also contribute largely to our success in life.
Aptitude- Many people go crawling through life without knowing what their real aptitude is. They become doctors and engineers and later realize that they were not meant for that profession. They later find true happiness in their hobby like painting or writing. We must first find out where our true aptitude lies and then go after it like a passion and success will automatically follow.
Aggressive- Many successful people owe their success to being aggressive not in their dealings with their clients and colleagues but in implementing their business strategies and putting into practice their own management principles and policies. They have a ‘go-getter’ attitude which makes them aggressive which in turn helps them clinch business deals and deliver results.
Hard Work- ‘Rome was not built in a day’ a popular saying with a lot of wisdom and truth in its philosophy of existence. The real ingredient for success is hard work. Hard work makes us tough by facing difficult situations. A never say die attitude that helps us over come obstacles by having faith in ourselves and in our job or venture.
Perseverance- Whatever we undertake in our lives the results may or may not be immediate. To make a business thrive in an environment of competition and rivalry is tough and many give up or throw their hands up in disgust. It is the few who stick to what they truly believe in and fight their way to the top till they finish. They enjoy their fruits of hard work after many many years of struggle. To persevere and to persist in our goals is one of the keys to success.
Patience- Many people don’t have the patience to wait and see the larger picture of success and achievement. To them getting over daily minor irritations is more important. They don’t have the patience to see their business struggle, grow and thrive under the daily grind. The logic is quite simple if we don’t live our lives daily and face the minor and major problems that come up how are we gong to see the big success one fine day?
Self Confidence- Whatever we decide to do with our lives we have to have affair amount of self confidence in ourselves. Without self confidence nothing can be achieved. We have to develop self confidence to talk to our business colleagues or partners and also with our clients. We are answerable to everybody who does business with us. We have to have self confidence to face the tough competition that this world puts us through.
Sincerity:-Another key to success is sincerity. Sincerity towards our business. The values attached to our business or job we have undertaken. No matter how long it may take or no matter
how difficult the paths if we are sincere and dedicated then success is sure to follow us where ever we go.
Helping Others: – Most successful people always thank their friends, relations
colleagues or even family members for the successful person they are. Some people don’t hesitate to thank the door-keeper, sweeper or canteen manager for helping them during difficult times. Along the line of achieving success we must never forget to help people who have helped us, infact we should help everybody whom we come in contact with. They in turn will come back to help us.
Last but not the least ‘What is the key to success?’ The answers lie in every individual who is in a sincere pursuit of lasting happiness and success not only for himself but to all those who come into his life and make a difference.

Great article! But I believe that success means differently for each individual person. But I agree with you for everything else. All of those are very important to be successful. I'm adding "reason" to the list. A few people tend to forget the "why" and tend to take it for granted. But knowing the reason "why". Why do you want to be successful? Why do you want your own business? It may not sound important but when you're at the brink of wanting to quit, try and remember your why. It has to be a solid reason why you do what you do. And it will keep you going for your goal.
