When Shifting House
In our lives we make various crucial and huge decisions. Some of them require a lot of preparations in order to be carried out properly. Shifting house is one of them. When shifting house, you are under a lot of stress for sure. The tension is increased and stress stretched when you are seeing a lot of things going wrong in front of your eyes but cannot do much about it. You feel like your hands are tied and helplessness takes over. What can you do to avoid such apparently inevitable situations? Well, if you are not prepared in advance, you cannot do much about it. But if you are, you can save yourself a lot of surprises and allocate your time carefully.
There are a lot of things that are going on at the same time when you are shifting house. As a matter of fact, the preparations for changing house successfully, the steps start much ahead of the day. Let’s assume that you have decided on your new destination and in order to turn your new house into home, you need to bid a proper farewell to the old one. When shifting house, there are some things that would make your life easy and make almost impossible possible. Following are some of those things that we all need to keep in mind in order to successfully conquer these occasions:
· Arrange For A Leave: in most cases, either one of you or both of you are working (in case you are married). Whether you are self employed or working for a company, you need to arrange for a 2-3 days leave at a minimum. Depending on the distance of your new house from the current one, as well as the amount of your carriages, the number of days should increase or decrease.
· Make Different Packages: when shifting home, one of the most cumbersome things to do is to get every other thing into cartons and arrange them properly. This is more tiresome because, you have to pack and unpack the same things in less than 2 days of time. There is no shortcut to doing this. We almost panic when we see that no matter how many packed boxes we are going through, we cannot seem to find the only thing we need at that moment. In order to make things less complex, what you need to do is classify the boxes. Do not mix the cutlery with clothes, stationery with sanitary. This will simply make you go crazy and scream at anyone and make works tougher. So, classify the boxes. Clothes will only have clothes, stationery will only have stationery will only have stationery. To make things easier, attach a label to each of these boxes. Do not just use generic words as label, for example, if you only right clothes on various boxes then you will be at a loss. Use different words like, sheets, curtains, cleaning clothes etc. Stuff each of the family members’ clothes into different boxes and give their names on them as we. This will organize things up and provide you with breathing space.
· Assign Responsibility: assign responsibility to everyone. Irrespective of the age and state of being busy, you should give some work to everyone. Don’t take everything in your hands. By doing such, in the end, you will end up in a mess and will have to take the blame. If you have a five year old, give them something to do; may be ask them to gather their toys, or shoes together for you to pack. By doing so, you will be able to allocate nitty-gritty works to others which apparently seem easy but in times of stresses, just tend to add up. One very good thing that you do by assigning tasks to other people is that you remind them of their roles and responsibilities, you teach your babies that they are an important part of the family too and their acts also matter and contribute to the huge affair. This makes them feel good and makes them feel accountable too. These are the small things that help you teach others a lot indirectly.
So, you see that when shifting house, you are not just shifting your living location, but you are organizing and running a whole system. Anything, big or small can go wrong when operating such a mammoth task. But don’t worry. Change is inevitable and its only you who can make it for the best. So, go ahead and get busy. At the end of the day, your new home will bring a pleased smile on your face as well as on the ones’ you love!
