To write this topic I thought about many ideas as to how to write and start this topic. Well that is because, this topic is very vast. So considering writing this article, I went through certain facts. The fact is, a kid came with his mom to work in my house or in other words to do certain odd jobs like cleaning etc., because he gets money. So I told his mother to send him to school where he could get quality education and with that education a good job. The boy went puzzled and told me that “if I have to go to school to get education which gives me a good job and salary; then I better do certain of the odd jobs which is fetching me good amount of money right from this age.” Every parent tells their kids to go to school to get education which gives them good job. But is that why we need education?

The Points Showed Below Throw A Light On Why Do We Need Education:

Good Character: Education gives the person good character. Education plays a vital role in developing a human’s character. Good education leads to personality development, psychological improvement of a person. It improves thinking, differentiation of good and bad, behavior. Education improves self governance.

Better Understanding Of The World: A person confined to his place knows ins and outs of only his place and he thinks that outside world is nothing. He even does not improve himself for betterment resulting in total darkness about the developments outside. But education removes this orthodox nature and enlightens the person with knowledge. This gives him good knowledge of the world.

Individuals Become Civilized With Education: This is a very synonymous sentence. Because being civilized and being educated mean the same thing. Being civilized a person thinks and acts maturely. This gives the person a good name in the society. Most of the scholarly persons are renowned because of this education.  Good education leads to good culture and good civilization. Most of the prominent leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, and Mother Teresa etc. are given respect because of their good quality and character. This comes only with education. This is one of the important points for the question why do we need education.

Education Broadens A Person’s Horizon: The technology development in the recent years has improved our lifestyle a lot. We have everything at our door step. This is because of education. Every individual is interacting with people in the other parts of the world with different cultures and traditions. In this way education broadens our horizon. Broadening a person’s horizon means broadening the person’s thinking limit thus making him intelligent and good. 

No Socio-Economic Disparity: Education reduces social and economic disparity. Everybody is given equal preference resulting in class less society. For example, in schools every child is equally treated. It is not seen whether the child comes from a higher class or lower class or is a white person or black person. When the social and economic disparity vanishes then a nation can progress faster. This is another important point for the question why do we need education.

Improvement In Society: Society and civilization improves with education. This paves way for developments in science and technology and medicine; these two improve a person’s standard of living and life expectancy. Today the third world countries like India and China are considered to be fast developing countries. This is because of education. Both these countries are giving primary importance to education. And the result is its fast development. The developed countries are encouraging the developing countries for the need of education.

Help With Education: Educated persons contribute more to the development of nation. The ideas which educated people give are very helpful for the nation’s progress. For taking any important decision these people’s views are considered the most. They are given utmost respect and are revered throughout the nation. This is another point which gives a light on why do we need education.

Gist: People think that there is a similarity between being educated and being literate. But there is a large difference between these two. Literacy gives a person the ability to read and write. But knowledge gives person qualities like being humble, the ability to differentiate good or bad. Education gives us the power of knowledge. The power to use this knowledge vests with human beings. Education is the food to human beings mind. As the saying goes in India, “Swadeshi poojyate raja, vidwan sarvatra poojyate”. This means that “a king is respected only in his kingdom, but a scholar or well educated person is respected throughout the world”. If we respect education, it protects us and even gives us good name and respect.
