It takes no research to tell that the atmosphere in the workplace will have direct bearing on our life. A monotonous workplace is certain to kill employee’s creativity and efficiency. On the other hand, a diverse, vibrant, novel workplace produces happy and efficient employees that form a well bonded team that is understanding and tolerant towards each other.

What is diversity?
Diversity in the workplace means an integral presence of sources or components, mainly human, of varied quality, talent, capacity, race, income, status, experience, etc. It also includes ever changing ambiance, ingredients and interiors. In other words, it means that the staff consists of members who belong to different ethnicity that adds distinct flavor to the group.
Diversity in process execution and methodologies is also very crucial aspect in a workplace. Carrying out a task repeatedly in a mechanical way kills an interest and innovativeness. If diversity is introduced even in the smallest of the processes and regular tasks, it increases the attention span and keeps the novelty going.
Can diversity work?
It is often considered that diversity creates friction, but it actually inbreeds interesting features in the workplace. Out of human curiosity, it initiates interaction among various components that results in better understanding among the team members. Diversity also infests tolerance and respect for each others’ values and emotions.
Earlier, the world was divided by and restricted to the geographical boundaries. Human resources were employed within these and there was hardly any exchange of diversity. It was easier to co-relate and synergize with the teammates who were similar to you in most of the aspects. However, over the last few decades, global village has merged all boundaries, and people are willingly crossing borders to explore avenues that expose them to the work culture different from theirs.
What are its implications?
This has resulted in a common workplace scenario where human resources of all varied culture, belief and values have added their own interesting flavor.
These myriad hues on a workplace canvas have bestowed many advantages.
· Diversity in workplace helps to provide a platform to the employees to have an exchange of ideas and opening of windows of the mind to many facets of interesting human characters.
