Why There Are No Stupid Silly Questions


Fear is the main barrier in effective communication. People have lot of barriers in their mind and one of them is the fear in their mind about asking stupid silly questions. They haven’t yet asked the question but they perceive their question would make them a subject of ridicule. It is the fear that turns them down on many occasions and builds a wall of assumptions and self assumed facts. On other hand there are people who despite being very good orator are very poor listeners. These are the kind of people who are quick to reject what others has to say and are eager to turn other people questions as stupid and silly.

 

Questions are meant to clear the doubts. Their very existence in itself is a proof that more communication needs to happen before the topic becomes clear. However thinking them as worthless and pointless are nothing but way to cut the chords of communication. Also it has deep impact on people who become target of such interpretation in terms of low morale and confidence. So let talk more on stupid silly questions and see what they really are

2)     They want some fact to be cleared

1)     They are eager to answer it

1)     Decreases the morale of the person who has asked it

2)     Build low self esteem

3)     Kills the confidence

1)     Fears asking any question

2)     Builds walls that don’t let him ask and clarify doubts

3)     Kills the zeal that would have made him learn more

 

It is Important for us all to Understand that There is nothing called as Stupid Silly Questions. It is nothing but Ease With Which Any Question can be answered

1)     An obvious answer to the question you term it as silly

2)     A simple answer to question you term it as stupid

3)     An answer that need no analysis and is straightforward you term it as stupid and silly.

This is done by ignoring the fact that A person could have

1)     Something else in mind

2)     Something else to co-relate to

3)     Something else to bring forward.

 

Turning the question as stupid and silly is the worst form of communication. Instead people should be Encouraged to ask question no matter how simple they are.

 

 

One of the most important parts of communication is to encourage people to converse. The use of derogatory phrases not only discourages people but is also blow to their personality. One need to be careful while terming any doubt as stupid silly question just because it is much easier for him to answer. If you want yourself to be understood you need to make sure everyone involved understand every bit of what you have to say.
