Why Your Life Sucks

We are all aware of the word called ‘Suck’. It used to be a very dirty word, but now we hear it everywhere. You can see it on T.V’s, schools, movie previews etc. the word is brilliantly explanatory. When something sucks, it basically saps and undermines your energy. It removes all joys and leaves you miserable.  When your life sucks, you often lose the strength of being truthful to yourself and you easily give way to desperation and depression.

We all know that we have the right to live our life in our own way. But still, various aspects of our surrounding environment affect the way our life takes shape and thus, our happiness or sadness. These factors around often make us miserable, if they are negative.  They disturb our mental peace which often results in the deterioration of our health.  Your life starts sucking when you lose something vital that contributes to making your life worth living. This loss can be in the form of happiness, health, job, money or love.

Life is a game, we can play it by making best use of all your energy. As it happens in games, so it happens in life too – You win some and you lose some.  The question: ‘Is there a life after death?’ is being consistently asked. Instead of this, we must seek an answer for the question “Is there life before death”.  Though circumstances can often be trying, we are ourselves responsible, if our life sucks. Instead of reacting negatively to bad circumstances, we should always react positively. Negative reactions only sap our energy, thus making us still weaker. In the same manner there are so many reasons which will ultimately make us feel that our life sucks. These are:

1.      Giving up your power: Sometimes we keep on doing such things which we don’t like or don’t really want to do. For example, we don’t like our job, but still continue with it due to the fact that we feel we need the salary it is giving. We die a little bit daily by doing such work. We will never feel satisfied, if for some or other reason we go for doing things which do not interest us. The source of strength is always inside us. So if we would continue with the work which we are capable of, that will make use of our time and energy spent. This will satisfy also us and indirectly makes you happy.

2.      Wasting energy: Instead of using our energy in love and happiness, we use it in running after things that are quite meaningless.  By enjoying and living life to the fullest, we can not only conserve our energy, but also keep depression away.

3.      Unrealistic expectations: Most of the times, our expectations from life and people are unreasonable. This simple mistake can also hurt us a lot. In today’s materialistic and competitive world, we forget to find true happiness and blindly run after money, power, luxuries, etc. Even people who live simply can be very happy. Your happiness depends on you, not on wealth or power.

4.      Keep on trying to prove yourself: We always try to show others that we are the best. We try to prove that we are more successful than them. This starts a vicious circle as this gives rise to feelings of competition and jealousy, which may lead to depression. Many times we take up a challenge just to prove ourselves, even though we know that we are not really capable of fulfilling it. In this process, we push ourselves to the limits. This again saps our energy and so on.

5.      Overburdening yourself with responsibilities: Today, we want everything that we can lay our hands on, for ourselves and our loved ones. This results in overburdening ourselves with unnecessary responsibilities. Therefore, we are always tense and keep on running after these unnecessary goals in life. We neither have time to relax nor to enjoy life.

6.      Starving your soul: In running after materialistic things and worldly pleasure, we fail to give any of our limited time, energy and efforts to nourish our soul. Just like our body, our soul also needs to be nourished. We should enhance our spirituality, by being close to nature, helping others and rendering selfless social service.

These were some simple reasons why you often feel that your life sucks. A simpler living and not trying to engage in cut-throat competition with each other will help us develop meaningful relations and joyful life.  Just like we invest money, we should invest happiness. If we will start enjoying everything, we will win over life.  Start living for love, care and happiness so as to create your own heaven on earth!
