You Are Right, I Am Right

You are Right, I am Right might seem as something outside the context. There is always the best solution no matter how hard we debate. People take decisions based on what according to them is Right and will give them maximum leverage. But have you ever thought what the basis of their pronouncing something as Right?

Everyone in this world have their own motivations. All the years in their life has gone into developing a specific mindset which they have learnt from their own experience. Their nature has been influenced from host of factors which we cannot even imagine. We are living in the world where nothing is wrong but everything is right provided the reason behind the decision remains pertinent.

So how do you take care of situation where you think the person in front (your customer, your Boss or a colleague) is not Right

1) Do you tell them NO, you are wrong. Or

2) You explain them why it is wrong and then tell them the basis of your logic.

Even if you use any of the above logic, I would not dare to say that you are wrong but would definitely say that you are right but let’s see if there is some other way to comprehend it.

Nothing in this world is Right? It is all about our understanding of the situation and its analysis to give us the best result. When we say that I am Right

1) We make it clear that nothing can be better than this

2) We have analyzed the situation and have freezed on best approach.

3) We have closed the door of further improvement and have sealed the decision forever.

you-are-right-i-am-right

you-are-right-i-am-right

But what would happen if

1) Both you and other person think that they are right

2) Both think that the other person is wrong

There is a conflict

An analysis of human productivity suggests that

1) A lot of time goes into the resolution of conflict.

2) No human being ever thinks that he is wrong.

3) Some people even get a kick by going into the conflict and do it just for fun.

No matter what the reason may be, we should be concerned about the outcome. We should be motivated enough to work towards the solution to quickly resolve and deliver on the result.

Before we go further lets read this “You are always Right. There is no way I would like to contest your viewpoint. It would be completely impossible for me to get inside your mind and find basis of your Decision. I am in no way competent enough to judge your priorities while you worked on Solution. However I would be happy to help you and discuss the approach. We need to discuss till the time we reach to a point where we both agree. In case the results are not expected than we need to talk again and dissect. Maybe we can learn from each other or there are new things to learn.”

Very True Indeed! If we understand above we should know that

1) Every person has the reason to be right

2) The magic lies in resolving the things and coming to what we collectively think as right.

If you ever encounter such situation the best was to go about it is

1) Never tell the person that he is wrong

2) Ask them their approach and reason behind it.

3) Question them on points which you think has been wrongly assumed

4) Try to understand why a particular decision has been made.

5) Explain your approach

6) Take questions

7) Work on common solution

8 ) Try to blend the approach

9) Agree on a particular method

10) Take decision and stand by it together.

Be a Team and Stand By the Decision. Do it and World would respect You
